Adventurer and survivalist Bear Grylls has had a couple TV shows on NBC so far. Get Out Alive was cancelled after one season while Running Wild with Bear Grylls has been renewed and will return in July. Will The Island have good enough ratings to be asked back for a second season? Stay tuned.
On The Island, 14 American men answer the question: Can a man of today’s world survive on a deserted island without the luxuries — or even the basics — of contemporary everyday life? Unlike other reality shows, there are no prizes, no eliminations, no winners, and no camera teams. Everything viewers see has been filmed by the men themselves.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
6/22 update: How’s The Island been doing? Should it return?
7/7 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like The Island TV series? Would you like to see it cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Please return The Island. It was an excellent show. So much difficulty to overcome. So many personalities having to work together.
A perfect example of the will to survive. Also, of the need to work together.
Maybe, playing it up more…teasers etc. would increase its ratings.
Wow! as a person who has had advanced survival training and has lived off the land in the jungle for 60 days at a time and worked as a forest ranger, I am completely amazed at the pathetic behavior of the whimpy participants in The Island. It was “Truly Unbelievable” to watch and I predict they would have all died in normal survival circumstances. If the human race ever needs to survive in harsh conditions someday such as in a global infrastructure meltdown with these kinds of people then we are truly doomed! I was blown away to see more… Read more »
If the American men are any indication of our ability to survive in a ‘back to nature’ scenario then we should all be very worried. As usual it starts off with lots of testosterone fueled, ego filled chest thumping and ends in gentle sobbing on the beach while waiting for the rescue boat. Seriously, I hope he gives a group of women a shot at this.
One can only hope this will be the case that the women get the chance to inject the masculinity that was so alarmingly missing during the American male run! As long as they are vetted properly, they cannot be any worse! The women of Britain fared okay. They, actually, surprised me as time went on. One thing I am truly disappointed by, is the sanitisation of the kills. This show makes a point of understanding the correlation of eating shop bought meat and what’s needed to happen for that privilege and then proceeds to edit the kill! How bizarre! We… Read more »
Like the island but Jimmy needs to take a life check how do people make it thru life so out of touch with reality go get some water instead of sitting on your $#@ and whineing
Love the show. Interesting group dynamics.
My husband and I love this show. We are also fans of Survivor on CBS. This show to us is possibly better because the real personality of the contestants seem to come out. There is no pressure of playing games and hiding emotions as to not be voted off the island. Love it! Please do not cancel.
BORING!!! Who will leave next? Who cares
My husband and I love the show,
This show is so phony and stupid! How much did they pay for the snake? All the men talking about being thirsty and de-hydrated, after the shot of the huge bunch of coconuts on the beach? Come on, you’ve got to be kidding! Then, next episode, Bear saying the coconut water was not good for them. It’s known for its electrolytes, just what they needed for the dehydration. Even my doctor told me to drink it to keep my electrolytes in balance. This show is just another example of “mean T-V”. The only thing they are interested in is how… Read more »
Dear Louise, As a British person, belatedly coming to see what the American version of this show was like, Mr Grylls (if you cared to absorb ANY of the information correctly) was saying that coconut water is good for a short while before your body can’t digest it properly and you get the runs. So, yes, he is correct if you only try to survive on coconut water. Pay attention! What I will say, here, is that despite American “gusto” and “bravado”, talk is clearly cheap. Citing being “the bravest” in the world clearly doesn’t pan out (even in an… Read more »
LOL it is totally staged. A bunch of clueless Millennials put on an island with adults. One of which has just stabbed himself in the throat to deny them their Youtube moment. I could outlast any of them on my worst day.
So you’re saying there’s a 15 yr old on the show? Millennial = Born during or after 2000.
Who cares if you could outlast them? This show isn’t about the single persons ability to survive. It is about their ability to survive as a group. You think you could hike that island alone from their landing spot? Or better yet even begin to accumulate enough water and food to counteract all the calories you would burn having to do everything yourself without people to rely on. Get a grip bob.
A 15 year old is not a Millennial. Who said there was a 15 year old on the show?
So far I think the show has been real good. Does not look staged and with two people already out, and several more who have been injured. I would ay this show is as real as a survival show is going to get on TV.
The only other survival show I give any merit to is Les Stroud and his Survivorman series. All the rest are staged or supported with crews and staff.
Les Stroud has merit? Have you ever attempted to watch his attempt of crediting/discrediting bigfoot? For real? Wow! I heard Loch Ness was doing nationwide tours. You should book it quick before it sells out to the rest of the other ignorant fools. Whatever happened to natural selection? Nature has apparently been on vacation for way too long
He did several seasons in remote locations before his body could not sustain those actions any longer. Now it’s more if a pretty nature show where he teams up with a local guide and they try to thwart my plans of global domination.
I suspect some cheating was done so they could get enough episodes. Dumping people without proper survival training and equipment in the wild for a month and expecting them all not to die is stupid!
I didn’t even like Bear when he did the show w/celebrities. How freakin’ phony! Plus I’m tired of all the Brits on our shows…. What? There were no Americans available?
What? He ate that disgusting stuff just for the camera? Probably was props, but compared to some survival shows he does give some good info. As for the show with celebrities…….Now that’s a real waste. He basically babysits celebrities who know little or nothing about survival. This Island looks like it’ll be dead out of the gate. 14 guys who are all going to prove they’re manly men who can really cut it. Sounds like a great place for show offs, but I doubt there will much to learn. The only survival show I like is Dual Survival. They take… Read more »
Da’ Bear is a source of dangerous misinformation on survival and a personal example of ineptitude in that he received serious injury multiple times while performing in carefully controlled conditions for Discovery. (Much as he did while in the UK version of our National Guard [He was never in the regular UK military, much less the SAS.].) Not to mention that there was outright fraud on that show. Anyone following his advice had best have good medical and life insurance.
