What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the TNT cable channel, The Last Ship stars Eric Dane, Bridget Regan, Adam Baldwin, Charles Parnell, Travis Van Winkle, Marissa Neitling, Christina Elmore, Jocko Sims, Bren Foster, and Kevin Michael Martin. The drama centers on the crew of the USS Nathan James, which must try to find a cure for a deadly virus that has wiped out most of the world’s population. In the fourth season, Captain Tom Chandler (Dane) is pulled out of retirement, after Captain Slattery (Baldwin) and the crew realize the Red Flu has “jumped kingdoms” and is now infecting food crops. The race is on, to save the world from a devastating global famine.
Season Four Ratings
The fourth season of The Last Ship averaged a 0.31 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.55 million viewers. Compared to season three, that’s down by 38% and down by 30%, respectively. Learn how The Last Ship stacks up against other TNT TV shows.
On May 16, 2018, TNT announced The Last Ship was ending with season five, which debuts September 9, 2018. Could it come back for a sixth season someday? Stay tuned for further updates.

Relax and enjoy the fourth season without worrying if The Last Ship TV show will be cancelled or renewed for season five. TNT already issued an early fifth season renewal back in September of 2016, ahead of the season three finale. Whether that renewal was actually for a fifth and final season may depend upon the ratings, I’ll keep an eye on the Nielsens and update this page with new developments. So Tavo has an Iowa class battleship? There were only four made by the United States during WWII and they are all preserved in the USA as museum ships. Really poor writing also, the top fugitive in the USA gives herself up at the headquarters where the President and Chiefs of staff are and they casually take her through the war room without even searching her. Please do not cancel he Ship. My Husband and I look forward to June to see the last Ship . It is a really Good family show and needs to stay on please. We are a Military Family Retired, so pleas do not cancel the Show.

Because of the late start due to Eric Dane’s illness I think the show is a little lost in viewership this year, and for the latter half of S4 its up against NFL Sunday Night Football. So its going to be impacted significantly. But as S5 is already filmed and can premier on time in 2018 I think the show will bounce back. I am glad they are finally back at sea this year, and while I was concerned as to the plot device for the season, its actually working out pretty well. There has been some good action in… Read more »
The Last Ship is holding my interest. I almost missed its Season Premier for the fourth season and was very happy that I stumbled across the schedule on the day of presentation. I hadn’t seen much in the way of a trailer. The cast regulars are welcomed familiar faces. As fantastic , or should I say, maybe implausible that the concept of one ship mustering so much in supplies and personnel and rejuvenating repairs is, I really enjoy the concept. I hope Season Four will match the prior years’ audience. Time will tell.
