TNT has been cleaning house in recent months — cancelling shows like Perception, Dallas, and Franklin & Bash. Will new series The Librarians be cancelled as well or, will it be renewed for a second season?
On The Librarians, Flynn Carsen (Noah Wyle) welcomes four new people to the library organization, to help solve ancient mysteries and recover/protect historical artifacts. Together, they fight against supernatural threats — including the mysterious and immortal Dulaque (Matt Frewer) and the Serpent Brotherhood. The show stars Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth, John Kim, and John Larroquette. Wyle, Jane Curtin, and Bob Newhart recur in their roles from the movies.
The TNT series debuted in early December with a pair of episodes that drew a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.35 million viewers. That was a solid premiere for a basic cable series.
Unfortunately, the second week’s installment fell more than 35%, to a 0.8 demo rating and 3.37 million. The ratings have gone up and down in the later weeks but haven’t edged higher than a 1.0 in the demo and 4.1 million. Last night marked the season finale.
Though the ratings fell quite a bit after the premiere, The Librarians still performed well for TNT. It’s pretty much matched Rizolli & Isles’ demo numbers and is one of the cable channel’s most-watched programs. Though the cable channel supposedly wants to focus on very edgy material, it looks like a safe bet that The Librarians will be renewed for a second season.
Executive producer Dean Devlin certainly wants to continue with the show and told EW, “The world of The Library is a world I want to live in for the rest of my life. The more we can expand that universe and take it into surprising areas… we want to just see how far we can keep pushing the limits of where the show can go. Hopefully we’ll hear soon about a pick up soon and get back to work. We’re all chomping at the bit to get back into the world of The Library.”
Via Instagram he later said, “I want to thank each and every one of you who tuned in for your support this season. As soon as we hear any news regarding Season 2 of The Librarians you’ll be the first to know!”

Keep it! PLEASE bring it back for another season!!! Even our 20yr old son enjoys it. He actually comes out of his room to watch the show with us. (That’s HUGE!!)
You need to keep this show, it’s awesome.
This is a very good show, it is one of the few family shows left on tv. I want to see a season 2. The cast is great together. It will give young kids the chance to get hungry for knowledge if done right and I think this show is doing that.

Renew the Librarians!! It is a great show of history, mystery, science, and family entertainment that seems to be lacking on TV. We love to watch the show and think it is great how the movies became a TV series. Please keep it around!

Please keep it! My boys (aged 10, 9, and 7) and I love to snuggle up on Sunday nights and watch it together! It’s the one show I feel balances action, friendship, and fantasy well, without compromising on morals or showing anything that would make it inappropriate for my boys! Please don’t take it away, we love The Librarians (and their Guardian)!!!!

The Librarians is one of the best new series to come about, to cancel it would be a big mistake in my opinion, at least give it a couple of seasons before you consider chopping it from the line up. It really is a great show.
KEEP!!! I love this show!!! It’s super fun and every child grows up thinking there is magic in the world and this show plays on that. I love watching it every week. I DVR it so I can watch the shows numerous times. Please DON’T cancel it!!!
