TNT has been cleaning house in recent months — cancelling shows like Perception, Dallas, and Franklin & Bash. Will new series The Librarians be cancelled as well or, will it be renewed for a second season?
On The Librarians, Flynn Carsen (Noah Wyle) welcomes four new people to the library organization, to help solve ancient mysteries and recover/protect historical artifacts. Together, they fight against supernatural threats — including the mysterious and immortal Dulaque (Matt Frewer) and the Serpent Brotherhood. The show stars Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth, John Kim, and John Larroquette. Wyle, Jane Curtin, and Bob Newhart recur in their roles from the movies.
The TNT series debuted in early December with a pair of episodes that drew a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.35 million viewers. That was a solid premiere for a basic cable series.
Unfortunately, the second week’s installment fell more than 35%, to a 0.8 demo rating and 3.37 million. The ratings have gone up and down in the later weeks but haven’t edged higher than a 1.0 in the demo and 4.1 million. Last night marked the season finale.
Though the ratings fell quite a bit after the premiere, The Librarians still performed well for TNT. It’s pretty much matched Rizolli & Isles’ demo numbers and is one of the cable channel’s most-watched programs. Though the cable channel supposedly wants to focus on very edgy material, it looks like a safe bet that The Librarians will be renewed for a second season.
Executive producer Dean Devlin certainly wants to continue with the show and told EW, “The world of The Library is a world I want to live in for the rest of my life. The more we can expand that universe and take it into surprising areas… we want to just see how far we can keep pushing the limits of where the show can go. Hopefully we’ll hear soon about a pick up soon and get back to work. We’re all chomping at the bit to get back into the world of The Library.”
Via Instagram he later said, “I want to thank each and every one of you who tuned in for your support this season. As soon as we hear any news regarding Season 2 of The Librarians you’ll be the first to know!”
But, what do you think? Do you like The Librarians TV show? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?

Please keep it!! I hate when a good one gets cancelled before we are ready. Please keep this show.
This show is smart and original. It’s a perfect extension of the TV movies. It would be a shame if this show didn’t have a chance to develope.
KEEP IT!!! Best new show in ages. Sooo much fun every week!
I fell in love with this show, it has great actors, mythology mixed with urban legends, science and magic, comedy, strong female characters and it’s a bit innocent, and I miss that, I am huge GOT fan, also AHS and Breaking Bad to name just a few, and although those shows are great, they are much like real life, very dark, so to have a great show that balances all the darkness from the rest of TV it’s very welcome and it reminds me of shows from my childhood like Irie Indiana.
Keep it….it’s fun, fresh and quick moving with tons of details. I love it!
Keep. Great , clean family show.
Please keep it! I loved it even before it came out! ^_^
Keep the show! It’s nice that the whole family can watch and enjoy together. It’s refreshing to see a wholesome show, please don’t ruin it by going ‘racy’.
Keep The Librarians!!!!! More episodes more fun and adventure!!
Renew please. Wonderfully written show.
Keep the show – please. 16 episodes like most series. It’s fun, light, engaging, and so wonderfully different from the rest of television, which had gotten so boring with the exception of just a few programs, Librarians being one that I won’t/don’t miss if at all possible.
Keep this series!
I totally loved the show. I have never seen the movies but now I’m going to watch them. Keep it going. My husband and brother loved it. My 9 month old daughter loves it. I even got a couple friends to watch it who r huge fans of the movie. We couldn’t turn our heads away from the tv. We could watch it over and over again. Please more seasons. You won’t regret it.
My friends and I waited forever for a sequel movie. When we found out they were making a series we were ecstatic! Everything we hoped for and more. Please keep! Many hearts will be broken if it is canceled.
