TNT has been cleaning house in recent months — cancelling shows like Perception, Dallas, and Franklin & Bash. Will new series The Librarians be cancelled as well or, will it be renewed for a second season?
On The Librarians, Flynn Carsen (Noah Wyle) welcomes four new people to the library organization, to help solve ancient mysteries and recover/protect historical artifacts. Together, they fight against supernatural threats — including the mysterious and immortal Dulaque (Matt Frewer) and the Serpent Brotherhood. The show stars Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth, John Kim, and John Larroquette. Wyle, Jane Curtin, and Bob Newhart recur in their roles from the movies.
The TNT series debuted in early December with a pair of episodes that drew a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.35 million viewers. That was a solid premiere for a basic cable series.
Unfortunately, the second week’s installment fell more than 35%, to a 0.8 demo rating and 3.37 million. The ratings have gone up and down in the later weeks but haven’t edged higher than a 1.0 in the demo and 4.1 million. Last night marked the season finale.
Though the ratings fell quite a bit after the premiere, The Librarians still performed well for TNT. It’s pretty much matched Rizolli & Isles’ demo numbers and is one of the cable channel’s most-watched programs. Though the cable channel supposedly wants to focus on very edgy material, it looks like a safe bet that The Librarians will be renewed for a second season.
Executive producer Dean Devlin certainly wants to continue with the show and told EW, “The world of The Library is a world I want to live in for the rest of my life. The more we can expand that universe and take it into surprising areas… we want to just see how far we can keep pushing the limits of where the show can go. Hopefully we’ll hear soon about a pick up soon and get back to work. We’re all chomping at the bit to get back into the world of The Library.”
Via Instagram he later said, “I want to thank each and every one of you who tuned in for your support this season. As soon as we hear any news regarding Season 2 of The Librarians you’ll be the first to know!”

I love this show! I loved the movies & was excited to find out that they were making a series & then find out that Christian Kane was going to be in it! Bonus!!! I love that there is not just one star of the show but that it is the whole cast as the main star. I hope TNT keeps it!!
The Librarians is an absolutely amazing show!:) I fell in love with the movies and was over joyed when they announced the series! They did an amazing job reinventing it and keeping it interesting through out the season! I would love to see what The Librarians have in store for the future! Please keep this wonderful series going!

I loved the Librarian films and the series is so much fun especially with the combination of two of my favourite actors Noel Wyle and Christian Kane. I hope it continues as there are so many more stories to tell.

by all means TNT… you guys have gambled on shows in the past. this one deserves that chance this series like dean devlin’s other work has managed to get you lots and lots of money why not let this one play out…. see where it goes
I love this show. Don’t you dare cancel it! These actors fit so well together, the stories are educational, interesting, funny, intelligent, intriguing, dynamic, and so much more entertaining than any of the shows I’ve seen lately. Please keep them!

YES!!!!!! Please KEEP this very well written and Entertaining show….there are too many shows that are very bad/ stupid that really insults ones intelligence… BUT ..The Librarians ..IS NOT one of them.. at least give this show a chance….. IT is refreshing , well written, and a wonderful cast….and Interesting stories to boot.You never know what will be coming next… keeps you on the edge of your seat……THANK YOU.. for this wonderful show.. keep it coming…
