TNT has been cleaning house in recent months — cancelling shows like Perception, Dallas, and Franklin & Bash. Will new series The Librarians be cancelled as well or, will it be renewed for a second season?
On The Librarians, Flynn Carsen (Noah Wyle) welcomes four new people to the library organization, to help solve ancient mysteries and recover/protect historical artifacts. Together, they fight against supernatural threats — including the mysterious and immortal Dulaque (Matt Frewer) and the Serpent Brotherhood. The show stars Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth, John Kim, and John Larroquette. Wyle, Jane Curtin, and Bob Newhart recur in their roles from the movies.
The TNT series debuted in early December with a pair of episodes that drew a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.35 million viewers. That was a solid premiere for a basic cable series.
Unfortunately, the second week’s installment fell more than 35%, to a 0.8 demo rating and 3.37 million. The ratings have gone up and down in the later weeks but haven’t edged higher than a 1.0 in the demo and 4.1 million. Last night marked the season finale.
Though the ratings fell quite a bit after the premiere, The Librarians still performed well for TNT. It’s pretty much matched Rizolli & Isles’ demo numbers and is one of the cable channel’s most-watched programs. Though the cable channel supposedly wants to focus on very edgy material, it looks like a safe bet that The Librarians will be renewed for a second season.
Executive producer Dean Devlin certainly wants to continue with the show and told EW, “The world of The Library is a world I want to live in for the rest of my life. The more we can expand that universe and take it into surprising areas… we want to just see how far we can keep pushing the limits of where the show can go. Hopefully we’ll hear soon about a pick up soon and get back to work. We’re all chomping at the bit to get back into the world of The Library.”
Via Instagram he later said, “I want to thank each and every one of you who tuned in for your support this season. As soon as we hear any news regarding Season 2 of The Librarians you’ll be the first to know!”

I loved the movies growing up and the show is just fantastic. I really hope we can get more of this show and see these characters grow even more.

I love the Librarians. Please don’t cancel. The stories are great and such a great family show. All the good ones get canceled. Big mistakes on networks part.
I love this show and I would be furious with TNT if they cancel The Liberians I’m still ticked at them for canceling Leverage I truly hope they don’t because at this point I’ll stop watching TNT altogether no matter what else they come up with because I’ll jest figure they’ll cancel that too! It’s so not worth getting into it if there just going to keep canceling everything all the time as with the show Maxwell & King I loved it only to find out it was canceled this is becoming a habit that is not good!!!!!
I love this show, I love all the characters, I love the storylines ,I love John Larroquette and me and my family have so much fun sitting around the TV and watching. We look forward to every episode and are hoping and praying that you bring it back ,because it has brought us so much viewing pleasure, please do not cancel it.I watched all the other shows you canceled and would be devastated even more, if you cancel this too.

Mom and I just discovered and binge watched most of the episodes on demand and haven’t seen the season finale. So please renew The Librarians for a second season.
Please keep the librarians. This kind of show is rare, it has everything humor, drama, action, etc. not to mention a great cast who all complement each other. It opens the minds imagination. You get a positive sense of comradery, a team that has a family feel to it. It’s a show that finally isn’t dark and emo where afterwards you feel emo or depressed yourself but makes you feel happy and excited for more. Canceling this show would be a mistake. Renew it! Loved the movies and the television show is even better. John Laroquette is hilarious. As stoic as Bob Newhart but with a sardonic twist. By the ending of the season finale last night the characters of all of the cast were well formed. I would have loved to have seen more of Camelot. Jenkins as Sir Galahad has great possibilities. Although, Lancelot as evil was hard to take.
