TNT has been cleaning house in recent months — cancelling shows like Perception, Dallas, and Franklin & Bash. Will new series The Librarians be cancelled as well or, will it be renewed for a second season?
On The Librarians, Flynn Carsen (Noah Wyle) welcomes four new people to the library organization, to help solve ancient mysteries and recover/protect historical artifacts. Together, they fight against supernatural threats — including the mysterious and immortal Dulaque (Matt Frewer) and the Serpent Brotherhood. The show stars Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth, John Kim, and John Larroquette. Wyle, Jane Curtin, and Bob Newhart recur in their roles from the movies.
The TNT series debuted in early December with a pair of episodes that drew a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.35 million viewers. That was a solid premiere for a basic cable series.
Unfortunately, the second week’s installment fell more than 35%, to a 0.8 demo rating and 3.37 million. The ratings have gone up and down in the later weeks but haven’t edged higher than a 1.0 in the demo and 4.1 million. Last night marked the season finale.
Though the ratings fell quite a bit after the premiere, The Librarians still performed well for TNT. It’s pretty much matched Rizolli & Isles’ demo numbers and is one of the cable channel’s most-watched programs. Though the cable channel supposedly wants to focus on very edgy material, it looks like a safe bet that The Librarians will be renewed for a second season.
Executive producer Dean Devlin certainly wants to continue with the show and told EW, “The world of The Library is a world I want to live in for the rest of my life. The more we can expand that universe and take it into surprising areas… we want to just see how far we can keep pushing the limits of where the show can go. Hopefully we’ll hear soon about a pick up soon and get back to work. We’re all chomping at the bit to get back into the world of The Library.”
Via Instagram he later said, “I want to thank each and every one of you who tuned in for your support this season. As soon as we hear any news regarding Season 2 of The Librarians you’ll be the first to know!”
But, what do you think? Do you like The Librarians TV show? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
2/12 update: TNT has renewed The Librarians for a second season. Details here.

I love this show! I want 10seasons of The Librarians! I don’t have cable so I stream my shows the day after on Amazon Prime.
I love “The Librarians”!! <3 Definately want it back!! (y) 😀
I’m a fan and I hope they keep the show going!
Please we need to KEEP it!!! Would be lost without it! Awesome series
Oh please keep this show on air. Ratings are deceptive. How many of us IQ or record this program to watch later? I do every time. It is clever, witty and full of sass. The production quality is brilliant, and we are just getting to know the characters and their world.
KEEP The Librarians
Definitely keep! We watch (and record!) every episode. The finale was terrific! Intelligent and fun.
PLEASE KEEP! The librarians are the best and I follow it everytime it has a new one out!! Please make a bunch of them! Don’t cancel them! It just started and made people fell inlove!! Pleaseeee KEEP!

I like this show my friends and I watch it together. Please keep the show and the current cast!
Keep its fun
Please do not cancel the Librarians. As a family we enjoy it very much, I do not have to worry ,that apart from a little scare now and then, there is nothing in the show that my 6yr old son cannot watch. It is a funny, intelligent show, so why cancel after the first season. Please do not make the same mistake as they did over the Firefly series. From The Librarians fans here in the UK
Please keep this show. It is a great show.

Too many of my favorite shows have been recently cancelled, I don’t want to lose another.
