TNT has been cleaning house in recent months — cancelling shows like Perception, Dallas, and Franklin & Bash. Will new series The Librarians be cancelled as well or, will it be renewed for a second season?
On The Librarians, Flynn Carsen (Noah Wyle) welcomes four new people to the library organization, to help solve ancient mysteries and recover/protect historical artifacts. Together, they fight against supernatural threats — including the mysterious and immortal Dulaque (Matt Frewer) and the Serpent Brotherhood. The show stars Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth, John Kim, and John Larroquette. Wyle, Jane Curtin, and Bob Newhart recur in their roles from the movies.
The TNT series debuted in early December with a pair of episodes that drew a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.35 million viewers. That was a solid premiere for a basic cable series.
Unfortunately, the second week’s installment fell more than 35%, to a 0.8 demo rating and 3.37 million. The ratings have gone up and down in the later weeks but haven’t edged higher than a 1.0 in the demo and 4.1 million. Last night marked the season finale.
Though the ratings fell quite a bit after the premiere, The Librarians still performed well for TNT. It’s pretty much matched Rizolli & Isles’ demo numbers and is one of the cable channel’s most-watched programs. Though the cable channel supposedly wants to focus on very edgy material, it looks like a safe bet that The Librarians will be renewed for a second season.
Executive producer Dean Devlin certainly wants to continue with the show and told EW, “The world of The Library is a world I want to live in for the rest of my life. The more we can expand that universe and take it into surprising areas… we want to just see how far we can keep pushing the limits of where the show can go. Hopefully we’ll hear soon about a pick up soon and get back to work. We’re all chomping at the bit to get back into the world of The Library.”
Via Instagram he later said, “I want to thank each and every one of you who tuned in for your support this season. As soon as we hear any news regarding Season 2 of The Librarians you’ll be the first to know!”

Yes of course they should make another series of the Librarians (and not because I work for the library service either). The show is fresh and new. Has great story lines, amazing characters/actors and I would love to see how these characters develop over time. It would be such a shame if it wasn’t renewed and I am sure alot of people will be very annoyed should this happen!!!!!

so many shows are not given an opportunity to grow, so many shows are cut short too soon. So many shows have been disappearing sooner than they really should. The librarians is an amazing show that expands the imagination and keeps the viewer entertained. I highly recommend that this show be given a second season and more.
Please, PLEASE KEEP IT!!! Please don’t be like Fox was with ‘Almost Human; don’t go getting us hooked with something great then screw us (the fans) over by only providing one season. Come on, everyone knows a great show needs at least THREE or FOUR seasons to mature, and ‘The Librarians’ IS a great show, please give it a chance to prove it.
keep the show, it is awesome not full of blood and gore and not full of cursing. Always a adventure that keeps your interest and on edge
A Fun show, my husband & I have enjoyed it so much that we record it on our DVR in case for some reason we might miss a new episode. KEEP.

I love the show! It has the mysterious part as well as the history part covered! Dean devlin did such a phenominal job with leverage and will continue to do a great job with the librarians. It is nice to see a show not deal with sex or same sex couples or any of that reality bullcrap! It was just nice to see a good entertaining show that has comedy and drama and action without all the cussing that my girlfriend and i actually feel comfortable letting her 11 year old watch! Keep this show TNT please!
