TNT has been cleaning house in recent months — cancelling shows like Perception, Dallas, and Franklin & Bash. Will new series The Librarians be cancelled as well or, will it be renewed for a second season?
On The Librarians, Flynn Carsen (Noah Wyle) welcomes four new people to the library organization, to help solve ancient mysteries and recover/protect historical artifacts. Together, they fight against supernatural threats — including the mysterious and immortal Dulaque (Matt Frewer) and the Serpent Brotherhood. The show stars Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth, John Kim, and John Larroquette. Wyle, Jane Curtin, and Bob Newhart recur in their roles from the movies.
The TNT series debuted in early December with a pair of episodes that drew a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.35 million viewers. That was a solid premiere for a basic cable series.
Unfortunately, the second week’s installment fell more than 35%, to a 0.8 demo rating and 3.37 million. The ratings have gone up and down in the later weeks but haven’t edged higher than a 1.0 in the demo and 4.1 million. Last night marked the season finale.
Though the ratings fell quite a bit after the premiere, The Librarians still performed well for TNT. It’s pretty much matched Rizolli & Isles’ demo numbers and is one of the cable channel’s most-watched programs. Though the cable channel supposedly wants to focus on very edgy material, it looks like a safe bet that The Librarians will be renewed for a second season.
Executive producer Dean Devlin certainly wants to continue with the show and told EW, “The world of The Library is a world I want to live in for the rest of my life. The more we can expand that universe and take it into surprising areas… we want to just see how far we can keep pushing the limits of where the show can go. Hopefully we’ll hear soon about a pick up soon and get back to work. We’re all chomping at the bit to get back into the world of The Library.”
Via Instagram he later said, “I want to thank each and every one of you who tuned in for your support this season. As soon as we hear any news regarding Season 2 of The Librarians you’ll be the first to know!”
But, what do you think? Do you like The Librarians TV show? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?

Espero que continue con una segunda temporada!
ME ENCATA!
Keep The Librarians, it is a fun show that both my wife and I enjoy and look forward to each week! Don’t be stupid like Fox was when they cancelled a Brisco County Jr.
Renew the Librarians for another season, TNT! Just from the comments you’ve received in this one location, you know there’s a huge market for it in the USA. But the show also debuted SIMULTANEOUSLY in over 100 other countries! Pretty sure viewers are liking it internationally; I love the idea of millions of people all over the world taking the same hour to sit down and share a little magic.
Please keep the show.
keep this show it is wonderful and great cast.
Keep it and bring back leverage
I had to stop watching this as I had when I watched the first Harry Potter movie:
there is simply too much magic and put me into la la land. It’s like having a invisible friend who explains away everything away.
Let’s go back to a tv show: ROAR. It had magic too, but it did it in spots, not every 2-minutes. That was a great show that was cancelled too soon back in the day.
Bob, the magic is the base of the show. It’s how the Library works.
I love this show! The Librarians are amazing, with great writing and fresh ideas! This show should go on forever!
renew please! Love it
Please KEEP! This show is a lot of fun and I can see a lot of great storytelling ahead.
