TNT has been cleaning house in recent months — cancelling shows like Perception, Dallas, and Franklin & Bash. Will new series The Librarians be cancelled as well or, will it be renewed for a second season?
On The Librarians, Flynn Carsen (Noah Wyle) welcomes four new people to the library organization, to help solve ancient mysteries and recover/protect historical artifacts. Together, they fight against supernatural threats — including the mysterious and immortal Dulaque (Matt Frewer) and the Serpent Brotherhood. The show stars Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth, John Kim, and John Larroquette. Wyle, Jane Curtin, and Bob Newhart recur in their roles from the movies.
The TNT series debuted in early December with a pair of episodes that drew a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.35 million viewers. That was a solid premiere for a basic cable series.
Unfortunately, the second week’s installment fell more than 35%, to a 0.8 demo rating and 3.37 million. The ratings have gone up and down in the later weeks but haven’t edged higher than a 1.0 in the demo and 4.1 million. Last night marked the season finale.
Though the ratings fell quite a bit after the premiere, The Librarians still performed well for TNT. It’s pretty much matched Rizolli & Isles’ demo numbers and is one of the cable channel’s most-watched programs. Though the cable channel supposedly wants to focus on very edgy material, it looks like a safe bet that The Librarians will be renewed for a second season.
Executive producer Dean Devlin certainly wants to continue with the show and told EW, “The world of The Library is a world I want to live in for the rest of my life. The more we can expand that universe and take it into surprising areas… we want to just see how far we can keep pushing the limits of where the show can go. Hopefully we’ll hear soon about a pick up soon and get back to work. We’re all chomping at the bit to get back into the world of The Library.”
Via Instagram he later said, “I want to thank each and every one of you who tuned in for your support this season. As soon as we hear any news regarding Season 2 of The Librarians you’ll be the first to know!”

Keep this show!! It’s actually very entertaining. There are only 3 types of shows we’re given any more to choose from. Cops, reality or sex laden sitcoms. This is a great offering for those of us who prefer something light and fun.
Keep the show on. Each episode was new and refreshing, kept you interested. Never knew what was coming up next. Not too many shows actually make you think as well as entertain.
Most definitely keep The Librarians. The characters are well defined and well acted. Plus I can watch the show with my husband and don’t have to worry if my toddler is in the room. This is one of the few “family” shows we have available.

My family and i love this show. Please, please, please do not cancel this show. I was so excited when i learned that this series was getting made. This first season has been such a treat, it has brought back the characters and continued the storyline from the original movies and expanded on it with interesting new characters and unexpected story twists. This series has succeeded in making the audience feel like they are watching the continuing stories of the library while getting them invested in the lives and adventures of the characters of a new series. Perfect mix!
Please make another Season of the Librarians it really is a great and entertaining show that i have seen in a while.
Please keep the Librarians series! This is an entertaining show that discusses history and engages the mind! It is a family show!! Am not afraid to let the kids watch!! Amazing cast and crew! Love it!!

I love the contrast in characters sincerely hope they keep this show. You learn more about the characters as they learn about each other so you feel like part of the team.
