TNT has been cleaning house in recent months — cancelling shows like Perception, Dallas, and Franklin & Bash. Will new series The Librarians be cancelled as well or, will it be renewed for a second season?
On The Librarians, Flynn Carsen (Noah Wyle) welcomes four new people to the library organization, to help solve ancient mysteries and recover/protect historical artifacts. Together, they fight against supernatural threats — including the mysterious and immortal Dulaque (Matt Frewer) and the Serpent Brotherhood. The show stars Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth, John Kim, and John Larroquette. Wyle, Jane Curtin, and Bob Newhart recur in their roles from the movies.
The TNT series debuted in early December with a pair of episodes that drew a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.35 million viewers. That was a solid premiere for a basic cable series.
Unfortunately, the second week’s installment fell more than 35%, to a 0.8 demo rating and 3.37 million. The ratings have gone up and down in the later weeks but haven’t edged higher than a 1.0 in the demo and 4.1 million. Last night marked the season finale.
Though the ratings fell quite a bit after the premiere, The Librarians still performed well for TNT. It’s pretty much matched Rizolli & Isles’ demo numbers and is one of the cable channel’s most-watched programs. Though the cable channel supposedly wants to focus on very edgy material, it looks like a safe bet that The Librarians will be renewed for a second season.
Executive producer Dean Devlin certainly wants to continue with the show and told EW, “The world of The Library is a world I want to live in for the rest of my life. The more we can expand that universe and take it into surprising areas… we want to just see how far we can keep pushing the limits of where the show can go. Hopefully we’ll hear soon about a pick up soon and get back to work. We’re all chomping at the bit to get back into the world of The Library.”
Via Instagram he later said, “I want to thank each and every one of you who tuned in for your support this season. As soon as we hear any news regarding Season 2 of The Librarians you’ll be the first to know!”

Definitely worth keeping. With the loss of White Collar, this is the cleverest show on TV.

please keep the show. I loved Christian kane on leverage and was glad to see him back in another series. this is an show for the whole family. love it.
BRING BACK LEVERAGE! PLEASE!!! The Librarians show had such promise! But the plots were kind of dumb. I would love to see Christian Kane in more of the central role. His many talents were not utilized at all! I wanted to see him beat up more bad guys. Or pretend to be a professor in an art museum. The writing needs to be better!

Please renew! Its a really fun show and I am just starting to know the characters. I started watching because if Christian Kane who is great actor/musician but also was pleased to see John Laurqette (so?).Please give us more The Librarians!!

I love the show! It is exciting, funny, entertaining and most importantly a show for the whole family to enjoy! It has put together a great cast that makes the show! It is almost impossible to find a show that does all this now days!

I would love to see more and more of it…it would break my whole family’s hearts, if you were to cancel the show!!!!!!!! this is one show that we can all watch together and enjoy as a family…we love it and if you cancel it I’ll never find another show to replace this most entertaining exciting and pleasurable to watch series… please don’t cancel it thank you love always mando
