What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the Spike cable channel, The Mist stars Morgan Spector, Alyssa Sutherland, Gus Birney, Danica Curcic, Okezie Morro, Luke Cosgrove, Darren Pettie, Russell Posner, Dan Butler, Isiah Whitlock Jr., and Frances Conroy. After the Copeland family’s daughter is brutalized, an ominous mist overwhelms the town of Bridgeville, Maine. In the mist are countless, confusing, and concerning threats. Family, friends, and even enemies form unusual alliances, as they fight the enigmatic mist and the threats therein. Whether they will be able to remain moral and sane — as the fabric of society unravels — remains to be seen.
Season One Ratings
The first season of The Mist averaged a 0.14 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 462,000 viewers. Learn how The Mist stacks up against other Spike TV shows.
As of September 28, 2017, The Mist is cancelled. There will be no season two. Stay tuned for further updates.
Telly’s Take
It’s tough to use the ratings to predict if Spike will cancel or renew The Mist for season two because they don’t have other scripted shows. Spike is rebranding as Paramount Network in 2018. Also, its parent company — Viacom — has been shifting shows around from other channels like TV Land, to build up the Spike/Paramount scripted slate. Flying a bit blind, I expect The Mist will score a second season renewal. In April, Kevin Kay, President of Spike/Paramount Network, TV Land and CMT even said season two is possible. I will update this page with any new developments. Subscribe for free updates on any cancellation or renewal news about The Mist.
9/28 update: While possibilities may be endless, this show is not. The Mist is cancelled. There will be no season two of this Spike TV series. Details here. Now it is time for me to dash (and dine).

What do you think? Do you hope The Mist TV series will be renewed for a second season? How would you feel if Spike cancelled this TV series, instead?
I have to say everyone was so annoying. The gay character, the father, the mother, the daughter – the only decent character was Francis Conroy and she was under utilised. The cancelation is probably a good thing.
I loved first season of mist and am hoping there will be a second season.
Honestly…the character development was so bad that I genuinely cared most about Rufus. (The dog which dies in the opening scene)….and about that….why the mist killed that doggie? Did it rape somebody? Lol.
Lame show.
I loved it. So netflex picked it up? I really hope so. I am ready for season 2
I enjoy the show it’s a good story! The ending left me wanting more I hope season 2 is renewed!! Don’t let haters ruin it!! If they don’t enjoy it I guess they can find a different show there’s many to choose from instead of bashing a TV show they didn’t enjoy!! The few ruin it for the many!!! I do hope to see Season 2 soon!!!
My favorite part of The Mist was waiting to see how “hang dog” Alex’s character was going to look in each and every scene. Remember those old hound dog sad-face mugs and t-shirts from the ’70s? The ones where the hound dog’s bottom eyelids practically dragged on the ground? That’s what Alex’s attempt at acting reminds me of. Whoever told her that that woebegone mournful pathetic look was the same as acting? I found Francis Conroy’s walleyed effect (it’s really real) to be one of the creepiest parts about The Mist. What a plus for her character, but completely made… Read more »
Just finished the TV series and I’ve never actually been angry at how bad a TV show was. Where do I even start? There wasn’t a single likeable character in the show. They pulled the whole “Oh uh, yeah, the monsters are what you fear the most” thing out of their ass so that they could skimp on the special effects budget by making all the monsters human actors and crappy CGI fog effects. The ending was literally just people rolling around in a fog machine. This made it so much more pretentious and less interesting than the book or… Read more »
Yes I would like a season 2. It is extremely rude to leave viewers with such a major cliffhanger and then cancel. Not the best acting, and some of the plot was drug out, but I was left wanting to know all the “why, who and what’s”.
Definatly need a season 2! Don’t believe the drop in viewers!
I was very hooked on the show. It ended with such a cliffhanger. I would be upset if it were cancelled!
I was hooked on it too.
It says its a Netflix original series now. Possible second season created by them?
I hope so, I’m already hooked on Stranger Things and OITNB
Getting tired of every show now days falling I to the one season only with a cliff hanger it’s getting damn annoying and becoming pointless watching anything -.-
Just started getting into this show and now no 2nd season, why do these people do this to us, the public is beyond me, i was waiting for another season.
Because the mayor part of the public didn’t like the lame teen drama with bland characters and no real monsters.
Me to girl. I pray Netflix will do a second season.
Jeez…was there really any question that this show wasnt gunna make it? It was a badly written poorly executed show with stupid over the top characters and horrible special fx.
Not a jolly good show, not at all!
This was an odd, awful, stupid show. it really should never have seen the light of day but spike was desperate for a hot so we got this mess. Its a shame because it has great source material behind it, which had been previously adapted into a very good movie. This show had a laundry list of problems. poor acting hindered dramatic and important moments. its plot was way to overly complicated. involving unnecessary storylines such as rape, doppelgangers, borderline incest stuff, and the classic your parent is not really your parent. Im not even gonna get into whatever it… Read more »
