TV show description:
Set in gambling capital Las Vegas, this high action drama series shows us a world where the rich and powerful are betting on crime.
“The House” is a huge game where world events are predicted, gambled upon and influenced by a shadowy elite. Controlling the game is the “The Pitt Boss,” a mysterious Mr. Johnson (Wesley Snipes). “The Dealer” is Cassandra (Charity Wakefield) and she recruits rogue FBI agent Alex Kane (Philip Winchester) as “The Player”.
Highly skilled in both analytics and field operations, Alex is driven by the need to find out who killed his wife. Where once there was a line he would not cross, he can now only think of revenge. With seemingly nothing to lose, this makes him one of the deadliest players the game has seen and, in turn, a valuable asset to “The House”.
Cassandra is quick to note that Alex is unlike other players in that his conscience plays a part in how he plays. Protecting the innocent is seemingly ingrained in him.
As Alex becomes embroiled in this massive conspiracy, he must learn to exploit those puppet masters who control him in order to get to the truth. Chased by domestic law enforcement, there is no one to trust and it seems his only asset is his importance to “The game”.
Episode #9 — Tell
Working together to find Ginny, Alex (Philip Winchester) and Cassandra (Charity Wakefield) discover Ginny’s mysterious key opens a storage unit. It’s a dead end though, filled with Ginny’s possessions instead of clues. But a burner phone and book left for Alex by a mysterious “friend” leads them to Jack Fuller, a former U.S. Marshal who now helps fugitives disappear.Cassandra suggests setting a bet themselves involving Fuller to see if Johnson (Wesley Snipes) gives away any involvement. Sure enough, Johnson revises the bet under false pretext. Although Alex locates Fuller, he is unable to apprehend him, and Fuller escapes onto a plane – where Johnson is waiting for him.
Meanwhile, Cassandra is kidnapped by Agent Nolan, who uses Cal (Damon Gupton) to set up an interrogation. Not intimidated, Cassandra turns the questions on Nolan before disarming her guards, taking a gun and freeing herself. Off the interrogation, Cal calls Alex angry and questioning, and although Alex warns Cal he’s in danger, it’s too late. Gunmen are already chasing him down. Just when Cal looks done for, Alex swoops in to save his friend and rushes him to the ER.
Enraged by what happened to Cal, Alex arrives at the House gunning for a fight. He and Johnson trade blows until Cassandra forces a truce at gunpoint. Johnson tells Alex he wasn’t responsible for Cal – someone is playing them against each other. He asks Alex for help with this dangerous threat, but Alex walks away.
In an attempt to win Alex back, Johnson brings him Fuller. Alex is shocked to learn Ginny hired Fuller to help her disappear. Before Fuller was able to finish the job though, a group of men showed up, and now no one knows where Ginny is. Realizing Johnson doesn’t know either, Alex tells him he has no use for Johnson or the House. He’s done. Alex goes to the storage locker to read a letter Ginny left him and reminisce. But a spilled beer leads him to discover a fake wall, and on the other side… a giant cache of guns and ammunition. (Courtesy NBC.)

What do you think? Do you like The Player TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Keep this fantastic show!
This is a good show that once again network tv should renew. It is action packed and edgy. But NBC decided to pull the plug. I hope that someone will come to their senses and do the right thing. RENEW THIS SHOW!
I love this show. You need to renew it!
The only way NBC will hear these comments is if you go directly to the NBC website… ( http://www.nbc.com/contact )
Seriously? Nothing worse than commiting to a show only to have it yanked from the schedule. #NeedClosure
Hey, Winchester… GO AUDITION FOR A PART ON ‘BLIND SPOT’! #MissMyTeam #StrikeBack
It should not have been cancelled – the show was just beginning to find its footing – and they put it up against the other Emmy winning show – a new time slot like after Grimm should be tried
I’m so interested in The Player, look forward to it every week, please don’t cancel!!!
Please don’t cancel at least wrap it up like a miniseries? Poor decision to cancel. I loved this show.
I really do not like when a show is canceled and questions have not been answered. I would like to know if Jenny is alive and why she faked her death. Please do not cancel the show before completing the story lines of the characters.
Please don’t cancel this. I have become totally entranced with the blacklist and started watching this and have really liked it. Nbc must give these shows some time. They need to be patient and build the plot. I’m already hooked and have become leary of liking anything on NBC since they tend to give up too soon. Have they forgotten about Friends? Not very good the first coyple of seasons.
With some backstory revealed about the international network of “houses” and the very grey character given to the pit boss, the revelation of some of badasss Cass’s history and her evolving chemistry with Alex and possible triangle with him and Ginny, the show is just starting to get interesting. I think the second season will win a larger audience if it up the backstory as a context that explains why the implausible game is plausible and develops the characters/relationships while doing so. Keep this one!
Thursday is my favorite to watch tv. Get to see Heros, the Blacklist and The Player. I really like Player, don’t understand why you would cancel such a good show. Hope you change yourmind, I really love the Thursday lineup.
Love the show. Since it ended in cliff hanger I hope it will be renewed
