ABC hasn’t had much luck launching a new reality show in quite some time so they tried something different this time — The Quest. Is it a ratings success? Will it be renewed for a second season or, will it be cancelled instead?
On The Quest, a dozen everyday people are transported to a fantasy world called Everealm where they have adventures and compete to be the last “true hero” remaining. The cast includes Peter Windhofer, Jan Hutter, Marcello de Nardo, Susanne Gschwendtner, Stephanie Buddenbrock, Florence Kasumba, Mai Duong Kieu, and Doug Tait.
The show debuted at the end of July to a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.82 million viewers. It was a very poor start — even for a summer series — and the numbers have gotten worse as the weeks have gone by.

The season currently averages a paltry 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.96 million viewers. That’s worse than Sing Your Face Off, a celebrity reality show that was burned off on Saturday nights in June.
To be fair, The Quest has had to compete with football games in some markets and has also been preempted by games on some local ABC stations. The ratings are still very, very low however and the network knew that the series would be interrupted when they scheduled it — a sign that they probably had no faith in it.
In the end, it’s highly unlikely that ABC will want to take a chance on ordering a second season of The Quest.
But, what do you think? Do you like The Quest TV show? Do you think it should be renewed for a second season or should it be cancelled instead?
My petition to renew “The Quest” has now surpassed 2000 signatures (tinyurl.com/thequestpetition)! Thanks to the new exposure on Netflix, the number of Army members has increased steadily! I hope that ABC is watching what is happening here!
So many comments similar to: “I never saw this until it hit Netflix”, ” I did not see it until it was on Netflix”, “Like others said, we stumbled across this show on Netflix. Hadn’t heard anything about it..”
I really think if ABC gives it another chance–this time with appropriate promotion/advertising, this show will hit it out of the park!
this show has changed reality television for me. my reality tv hating boyfriend even likes it! despite what i see online i shall remain hopeful it comes back. it’s on netflix so that’s a small glimmer of hope in my eyes!
I hope they will eventually renew it but it doesn’t seem like ABC has it on its summer schedule list. The shame of this all is the fact that ABC did lousy job of promoting it. If the spent even half the time promoting “The Quest” as they did “Rising Star,” more people would have heard about it and watched. Like most people, I stumbled on it by accident after channel surfing one night and was instantly hooked.
They should bring it back.just think I bet a lot more people watch the show but just get together at one house and watch it on one tv not only that but if the networks would try to get more word out to the viewers about the shows they don’t think will do well people will watch the networks need better control groups to tell them what the people want to see
personally I loved the show I’m not too big on fantasy things except for Harry Potter and Eragon in which I love this show encourages everyday people to fulfill a dream that they even had as kids I think it is a great show to encourage even the youngest of viewers to follow their dreams and make them reality I say continue the show with following series not all shows are successful in the first series
Just like others I never saw this until it hit Netflix and was very much hooked from episode one and frankly, would love to be one of the Classical actors on the show. Well done and ahead or behind its time as it very much reminds me of the movie Westworld which is being remade into a TV series with Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Rodrigo Santiago and yours truly. But as far as the story and plotline I would die to be a part of its next season. I think a part of the problem isnt the show but the… Read more »
I love this show. I did not see it until it was on Netflix. I was hooked from the first show and I honestly thought it was going to be cheesy. I was quickly hooked into the fantasy plot and loved the challenges the Paladins had to face. It was a very creative and fun fantasy ride from beginning to end and I loved that Lina won in the end. I think they all were true hero’s and it was great to watch such a positive reality tv show. I really hope they decide to make a second season now… Read more »
I must say, this was a GREAT show! I had a day to relax and ended up binge watching it! First I’ve heard of it too! I think with some good promotion and possibly changing the time slot, this could be a highly viewed show!
good god i hope they renew this…finally some incredibly television to watch thats fun to enjoy!
It was totally epic!!!!!It was the first reality show that has hooked me.I really hope they keep it. Don’t think about the people that don’t like it think of the people that do enjoy it. Please for all those people’s sake I hope you keep it running!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really don’t care for reality shows but I couldn’t stop watching this, its great. It’s uplifting instead and fun instead of the backstabbing he said she said type of show. I would definitely watch more seasons.
This is the first reality I found worth watching. Not The nasty sniping behind backs. ABC put out a TRUE Family Show which used to be their Bread and butter. I thimk now with the Netflix Exposure it would really Take off. They Should at least try one more Season! Somehing like this would bring me back to television.
What a clever idea for reality TV. A perfect blend of dramatized fantasy with reality contestants. What a shame if they, ABC or any other network for that matter, do not realize the potential the creators and this show has to offer. Incredible costumes, special effects and editing. Please listen to the Fates and DO NOT banish this epic adventure from our airways.
My daughter and I just finished the Quest on Netflix. I am pleased to have finally found a show worth watching that encourages REAL values through a media that is usually saturated with negativity and self serving immortality. It is a breathe of fresh air and very uplifting. You have my vote.
This was fun! The Quest beats Survivor all to hell n back!!!! The story line with the accompanying challenges made it easy to be involved. The challenges weren’t easy, either!
This show didn’t exhibit the betrayal and backstabbing that is so common on Survivor. the Paladins exhibited honesty, loyalty, and showed their Hero traits.
Please bring it back!! Like others said, we stumbled across this show on Netflix. Hadn’t heard anything about it.
Renew!! We loved it!
