The Real O’Neals TV series stars Martha Plimpton and Jay R. Ferguson as Eileen and Pat O’Neal, heads of a happy Irish Catholic family. When son Kenny (Noah Galvin) comes out, the O’Neals stop playing at perfection and get real. Also starring are Matthew Shively as Jimmy; Bebe Wood as Shannon; and Mary Hollis Inboden as Jodi.
During his TCA winter press tour presentation, ABC Entertainment President Paul Lee acknowledged some Catholic people raised concerns, upon release of The Real O’Neals‘ trailer.
From STLToday.com:
“The Real O’Neals,” due in March, is about an Irish Catholic family, and although it’s a charming show, some Catholics protested when the first trailer was released. Lee says he’s not concerned. “I think, when that audience sees the show, they are going to see it as a really beautifully made show, a show that is full of family and faith and joy and humor. My wife happens to be an Irish Catholic. She’s loving the show. I back it a hundred percent.”
The Real O’Neals officially premieres Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at 8:30pm ET/PT. ABC will also air it ahead of schedule, Wednesday, March 2, at 8:30pm and 9:30pm ET/PT.
What do you think? Do you like the sound of The Real O’Neals TV show? Do you plan to check it out?
Funny and cleverly written. Often laugh out loud which is rare these days. One of the few shows on that I watch.
It Wayback when you use can result in broken families, it’s enjoyable to see something in this manner it’s not serious it’s just a TV show.
Fun and silly……

I am protesting the content and immorality in which you so casually bring up these issues on a ” family show” my family will not be watching a disgustingly shallow immoral show on ABC along with a lot of your other shows that you think are appropriate to air-I am so disappointed in the lack of values people seem to live and… Read more »
I will not watch this show, shame on abc for promoting this show and the attack on the Catholic Church and religion.
I do not plan on watching the show or anything else that ABC has to offer. This show is a direct assault on the Catholic Church and its beliefs which I consider sacred. Shame on you.
