The Six Million Dollar Man, which starred Lee Majors, aired on ABC for five seasons, and it was cancelled in 1978. A sixth season will never happen, but a remake is now set for the big screen.
Deadline reported on Monday that The Six Billion Dollar Man would head to theaters in December 2017. Mark Wahlberg is set to star on the film as the “cybernetic hero” in the film. The Weinstein Company is behind the film, and it will be written and directed by Damián Szifron.
Szifron talked about writing the script, according to Variety.
“Writing the screenplay was such a fantastic ride and embarking on this journey with Mark, Bob and Stephen to take this story to a whole new level is simply spectacular. Growing up, these kind of films left an indelible mark on me and now it feels so good to be making one.”
Wahlberg also expressed his excitement about taking on the role of Steve Austin for the film.
“I’m thrilled to assemble ‘The Six Billion Dollar Man’ for the big screen with the likes of Bob Weinstein and Damián Szifron. We look forward to creating a Steve Austin for the 21st century.”
Production on the film will not start until next September. Are you excited for a remake of The Six Million Dollar Man? Will you head to your local theater in 2017 to see this film? Tell us what you think.
Big bummer cancelled Mark Walhberg so good for action some comedy mixture would be combination love this show binge watching every episode only 25 years old not born yet aired tv god pocket.
Where can I watch the movie 6 billion dollar man?
Yes I can’t wait . Hope it’s more like the original . Unlike the remake of the Bionic woman it needs the sound effects and slow motion to be fun to watch . Not so dark the the new Bionic Woman which was too violent . I hope it is still upbeat .
Yes, I look forward to seeing the new film. The Six Million Dollar Man was my favourite tv show growing up in the 70’s
Yes I would be very interested in seeing the new remake of The Six Million Dollar Man

I really enjoyed the Man From UNCLE movie, too bad there doesn’t look like there will be a sequel. Hopefully if this movie is as good (how can you go wrong with this premise!) it will become a franchise.
I’m willing to watch it, just won’t be in the theater (too expensive), will wait until it’s on Netflix.
When will Hollywood start making original content! Enough with the remakes already!
Sounds good to me!
It’ll be interesting to see what happens if they can make a movie that will complement the former So I’m willing to find out
