NBC has evicted one of its newest drama series. The network has cancelled The Village TV show so there won’t be a second season.
The Village stars Warren Christie, Michaela McManus, Lorraine Toussaint, Frankie Faison, Jerod Haynes, Dominic Chianese, Darren Kagasoff, Grace Van Dien, and Moran Atias. The story centers on the residents of a Brooklyn apartment building. While it looks the same as countless others from the outside, what goes on inside is rare, to say the least. Everyone at the Village has a story to tell, be it about their hopes and dreams, or the challenges they’re facing. Together, they’re a family and family means everything — even when you are not related.
The first season of The Village averaged a 0.66 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.12 million viewers. The defacto series finale aired on May 21st.
Compared to the other scripted NBC TV shows of the 2018-19 season, The Village ranks 13th in the demo and ninth in viewership. The series saw a momentary bump in the ratings ratings when NBC moved it an earlier timeslot but it didn’t last and the numbers soon hit new lows.
Today, the Peacock Network also cancelled The Enemy Within and Abby’s TV shows.
What do you think? Do you like The Village TV show? Are you sorry that it’s been cancelled. Would you have watched season two on NBC?
Love this show has so much heart. Hard to see it go just when you get know the people and their stories.
Another chunk of my tv viewing time wasted. Loved the show, much left hanging. Not fair to viewers. You are hesitant to invest time in a new series just for this reason. A shame. The very reason some good shows dont make it, people invest the time & this is your reward.
Loved this show. How sad. Get rid of the reality junk……
Village a great show what the heck is NBC doing guess they are only good at FAKE NEWS!!!
Also the idiots cancelled the Enemy Within another great show.
I am so disappointed loved this show please please reconsider your decision!!!!
This is–or was–a great show. It was authentic and uplifting which is so badly needed given the tensions and uncertainties we’re faced with on a daily basis. There wasn’t much promotion of this show or what it was about and it almost skipped my radar. Plus, the reviews by primarily young male critics (not the target audience) thought the show was sappy and corny. Based on the mediocre reviews, I thought it would be awful. But was shocked (and pleasantly surprised) to find it wasn’t awful at all when I was on the treadmill at my gym and forced to… Read more »
This is terrible news!!! The only thing I watched on NBC were The Village and Enemy Within. This makes no sense! Perfect reason why fewer and fewer people are even watching regular TV. This is so irritating!!
I was hooked on this show from the first episode. I’m really angry about the cancellation. There was so much room to grow. I resent being introduced to characters I can invest in, only to have them taken away.
I loved The Village watched every episode and the finale left us in real suspense..WHY WHY WHY DID YOU CANCEL IT!!!!!!!!
Totally loved The Village. Looked forward to it each week. Very disappointed that we won’t be able to continue following the lives of these people that we’ve come to love. Unfortunately NBC does not seem to care about its viewers.
NBC sucks. One of the best shows on tv. You air more crap and keep it on. This is a wonderful show! I won’t be watching NBC any longer. done for me……
I hate to see this… it should not be cancelled! Please reconsider as this is great storytelling and phenomenal acting. So many topics revelant in todays world . I looked forward to watching eack week as did many of my family and friends. Shame on NBC.
And what about those of us who are over 49? That’s a huge population of people not being counted.
I can’t believe they cancelled it! I was very sad when they cancelled Parenthood but was glad to see it have a good run for as long as it did. It took “a minute” for me to settle into The Village but once I got used to all the story lines, I enjoyed watching every week. NBC should give the show another chance. Actually, I think NBC should give the people another chance. At least give us an ending, if not a future.
I love the village even my husband would set and watch with me and he doesn’t watch any thing but sports or car shows by the 2nd show our sons showed up unannounced and with in 5 minutes they had sat down to watch. then every week they came over to watch as a family. It was awesome. After the show we would talk about the Village for more then a hour . it was so nice to see my family getting along and not arguing . I will miss Tuesday nights. we are still talking about the baby so… Read more »
That show was awesome. I’m highly upset. Very hard to get my teenage daughter and I to watch a show together & we adored this show.
