The X Factor USA was cancelled by FOX after just three seasons. The series was brought to the USA by Simon Cowell, and he even left his spot on the judging table on American Idol to bring X Factor to television screens in America.
However, the series never lived up to expectations on this side of the Atlantic. The UK counterpart is still highly popular, and it is currently airing another season. With the return of The X Factor UK and his recent addition to America’s Got Talent, Cowell has been out and about speaking a lot, and he has now looked back at his time with The X Factor USA.
Cowell actually admitted he made some big mistakes with the reality series, and that admission might shock same fans. Digital Spy shared Cowell’s comments about The X Factor.
“Would I give American X Factor another go? Absolutely 100 percent, for sure. We got it all wrong, going in very arrogant. Again I opened my big mouth, I said we would get 20 million and as I said it I thought ‘oh my god, why did I say that?’ I should have said five because it got something like 14 which was crazily good but of course I was dead by that point. Also we couldn’t be the last show of the year, so there was American Idol, America’s Got talent, dance show, two versions of The Voice. t was overkill and I was exhausted before we even started watching it. I do still think as a music show it is the best one out there.”
Would anything be different if The X Factor aired now? With American Idol getting ready to exit, FOX would have the room for The X Factor to return. There is still a heavy amount of reality competition series on air right now. The Voice is not going anywhere. It will air season 10 with Christina Aguilera’s return to panel next spring. America’s Got Talent will air this summer.
Right now, this is just Simon Cowell talking. Would FOX really consider bringing back ? Would you watch the show if it returned? Tell us what you think.
I would not watch this show. It went off the air for a reason.
Bring back Nicole Scherzinger and Kelly Rowland.
Bring back Nicole Scherzinger and Kelly Rowland.
I do like X factor UK but have become frustrated this year not being able to view episodes in their entirety. Even some individual auditions at judges house I could not view at all in the US. Bring back X factor US. People could enjoy it if changes are made: 1. Lose the obvious games that ruined the show the first time (protracted sob stories, cutting very talented people that end up winning (obvious set up), producers ruining peoples’ chance to win by giving them songs and routines that don’t fit them). It was theater at times. 2. He’s also… Read more »
My wife and I prefer the x factor UK on AXS tv to the Voice for the great talent and we like the format better. We watch it Sundays and Mondays.
Yes I would welcome the X-factor back. If it has the same format and level of talent that the British version has . I watch this show Monday nights on axis T.V.
Simon Cowell is enough reason to not watch this show. He’s an insulting person that always rubs you the wrong way. No on Simon.
Please bring it back… I loved it so much and was so upset when it was canceled.
Yes, please! We’ll just wait until American Idol ends it’s run next year. It would be about time. Fox should revive The X Factor for a fourth season next year. If not, maybe CBS or ABC. It aired on Wednesdays and Thursdays. So, why don’t they move these 2 episodes on Thursdays and Fridays? Or Fridays and Saturdays in order to keep those ratings higher? So, we can watch The X Factor UK on Sundays and Mondays on AXS TV. What season four needs is a charity single. What The X Factor USA needs is something new. Like bringing back… Read more »
I hope they do bring it back, one of my shows I always looked forward to watching.
I would absolutely watch anything Simon Cowell does in America. He is an absolute genius & a brutally honest man. His talents are far beyond any other ones I’ve seen. I hope XFactor USA comes back w/Simon Cowell & would love to see Cheryl come with him. They go together.
Nope. Didn’t watch when it was on, won’t watch (or care) if it comes back. Having said that, I always liked Simon Cowell and enjoyed his critiques, which were at least somewhat more honest than the other Idol judges’.
Fifth Harmony was discovered on X Factor and now they are big stars! The show was really good, way better than American Idol.
Never heard of ’em, sorry.
I would watch. 🙂
Regardless of how one feels about Cowell, the man is most knowledgable at realizing winning talent. All of the present day talent shows were grandfathered out of Idol. Yes, I’d watch a rebooted X factor. Compared to all the puke shows on today, singing shows are a breath of fresh air. I fail to understand the obsession with Zombies, Vampires, and reality shows—walking dead, talking dead,, twilight sagas ad nauseum!
I didn’t watch it when it was on, I would not watch it were it brought back. I stopped watching this type of reality show/variety contest years ago. The contests are not talent contests, but popularity contests, winners chosen by “tweens” . The Preliminaries of all these shows are torture, I cannot figure out who watches them or why. It ‘s time to get back to scripted shows with some quality. To do that, the networks must support the shows they choose to run…and run them for more than a few weeks before cancelling..
The fact that you stopped watching / voting and all the other reasonable people stopped watching / voting is WHY the winners are chosen by tweens. They are the only ones left! It’s your own fault.
I would definitely watch it……I liked it when it was on.
