“We’re looking for people that shine.” New previews have been released from the upcoming season of So You Think You Can Dance, TVLine reports.
Season 13 of FOX’s dance competition series will focus on children aged between 8 and 13. Regular judges Nigel Lythgoe, Paula Abdul, and Jason Derulo will return alongside young dancer Maddie Ziegler.
In a video from the series’ Chicago auditions, executive producer Jeff Thacker said they’re looking for stars this season:
I think you’ll find that these kids that are coming between 8 to 13, they’ve been training for 1o years since the show’s been on. So that’s the talent we’re looking for. … I just think that the caliber of these 8 to 13-year-olds are amazing.”
Lythgoe added:
I think the technique is incredible. What we’re gonna watch from them now is that their performances are good, that they understand the music that they’re dancing to, that they draw upon the little experience that they’ve had.”
The new season of So You Think You Can Dance premieres on May 30th.

What do you think? Are you a fan of So You Think You Can Dance? Will you watch the new season?
I look forward to it every year here in Australia. Such a wonderful show. But kids? I will give it a go, but very very disappointed. Good Luck though.
I will give it a chance, but am disappointed that they changed to kids.
Not interested in child talent. So disappointed, have watched from the beginning, alas, not now. So very sad. Good luck.
Nice concept, but not really interested. We look forward every year to SYTUCD, and we are so disappointed. Don’t have kids, just interested in seeing adult talent. Wish you luck.
