O! for a time machine. Eric Kripke and Shawn Ryan’s Timeless TV show has been cancelled after one short season on NBC.
A time travel drama, Timeless stars Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Malcolm Barrett, and Goran Visnjic. The NBC cast also includes Paterson Joseph, Sakina Jaffrey and Claudia Doumit.
Timeless begins as a mysterious criminal (Visnjic), steals a secret state-of-the-art time machine to use in his attempt to destroy the US. The nation’s best hope lies in the unlikely team made up of a history professor (Spencer), a soldier (Lanter), and a scientist (Barrett).
Timeless: A Look at the Ratings
Season one of Timeless averaged a 1.10 rating in the 18-49 demographic and a average total audience of 4.62 million viewers. When compared to other NBC TV shows the cancellation makes sense. Reportedly, a lot of viewers watching on-line, On Demand, and on DVR delay, but ultimately, the network has to sell ad time, and advertisers like Live + Same Day viewing.
While the Timeless cancellation has not been posted to the NBC-U press site, Deadline has confirmed it.

Here’s the thing. Most people aren’t watching real time BECAUSE WE HATE COMMERCIALS!!!! I record and (usually) watch it immediately after or the next day, at the latest, just so I can skip through commercials. Love Hulu so I can pay a little extra and not have to watch commercials at all.
Love the show please bring it back loved the historical fiction. I always checked out the stories, they were true and interesting and viewers could actually learn history. Bring it back !
All the networks are so worried about people watching in realtime yet they forget people work and mainly rely on dvr and online to watch shows after the fact. You had a great series here that was not only good for adults to watch but also educational in a way about history to teens. My son would sit with me and watch it to learn about the different historical events. Way to blow this one NBC!!

Network tv fails to understand the science fiction audience. We are never gonna be mainstream, but we are loyal. It’s almost as if the networks don’t think we deserve to be entertained. Sara Conner Chronicles, Revolutions, Firefly, and many others. Now Timeless. I could go for a new paradigm in which a show is designed to run a fixed number of episodes to tell the story. The x episodes per season then compete for renewal model fails everyone. Nothing is ever finished. It just stops.
yes…i agree with that…make like a mini series or something or at least have an ending ready in cast the show does get cancelled

NBC blows it again!! This is a great show with talented actors, intriguing story line and the historical value was an added plus!! This show deserves a second season at the least to add to their fan base!!
VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT TIMELESS WAS CANCELLED. THIS SHOW WAS ALMOST LIKE A HISTORY LESSON EACH EPISODE. SO MUCH BETTER THAN REALITY TV…..I DON’T THINK THE SHOW GOT ENOUGH ADVERTISING…..I ONLY FOUND IT WHEN LOOKING THROUGH ON=DEMAND. VERY SAD…
