O! for a time machine. Eric Kripke and Shawn Ryan’s Timeless TV show has been cancelled after one short season on NBC.
A time travel drama, Timeless stars Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Malcolm Barrett, and Goran Visnjic. The NBC cast also includes Paterson Joseph, Sakina Jaffrey and Claudia Doumit.
Timeless begins as a mysterious criminal (Visnjic), steals a secret state-of-the-art time machine to use in his attempt to destroy the US. The nation’s best hope lies in the unlikely team made up of a history professor (Spencer), a soldier (Lanter), and a scientist (Barrett).
Timeless: A Look at the Ratings
Season one of Timeless averaged a 1.10 rating in the 18-49 demographic and a average total audience of 4.62 million viewers. When compared to other NBC TV shows the cancellation makes sense. Reportedly, a lot of viewers watching on-line, On Demand, and on DVR delay, but ultimately, the network has to sell ad time, and advertisers like Live + Same Day viewing.
While the Timeless cancellation has not been posted to the NBC-U press site, Deadline has confirmed it.

1/22/18 update: NBC has revealed the season two premiere date for Timeless. Details here.
But just think people…we still have The Kardashians, The Bachelor and Season 45 of Grey’s Anatomy. GAG.
I liked Timeless but never managed to be around when it was on so I watch all my TV shows on DVR or OnDemand. I’m not always home to watch my programs. The advertisers who demand live viewing aren’t logical or realistic. In today’s busy society, who can sit down every night and watch TV when we can play catch up on the weekends. All my shows have been cancelled this year so I’m going back to Netflix and Amazon Prime. The advertisers can play their ads to black screens and no viewership.
Timeless was just getting interesting it is wholesome and hasn’t been given time to catch on If it has more time and placed in the right time slot with more advertising to grow more interest it would gather better ratings! I’m so disappointed to see it go !
Why does NBC always seem to cancel the good shows? This was one of the best more imaginative shows around. My wife and I loved watching this show together and I agree about the learning of history from the show. There was some very true events mirrored in the show. Very disappointed in NBC and there choice. Lost another viewer. I am not there to watch nor care to watch the voice or other “reality tv shows”. I am here to be entertained by intelligent writing such as on this show.
Timeless should have been given a second season, it had great potential. I already miss having an episode to look forward to every week, and will for a long time to come.
Very disappointed that it was cancelled. This was a good show!
Very disappointed. This was my favorite show. Loved the history being learned
This series was complete and utter tosh. It did not deserve to live as long as it did.
Very disappointed that this was cancelled. Favorite show for me and my teenage daughter. Loved the history learned by watching.
I am very disappointed the show was cancelled. Now we will never know about Rittenhouse…
Oh No! That was a good show. Why do they cancel the good shows?
Oh No! That was a good show. They always cancel the good shows.
I really enjoyed this show. It was the only show I watched live since I am a big sports fan. Everything else i watch is On Demand. Love History but became an accountant but still love history. Even learned a little history here. loved the period pieces and how people reacted in those days. Plots were good and now I will never know if the sister ever returns? An early time slot would have been much better. The ending was set up well for year 2 but NBC blew it. I hope someone picks it up. I was upset when… Read more »
So agree with you!!
This is just what happened to Day Break, just hate to see a storyline end without being able to tie up all the loose ends.
I will really looking forward to the next season! Too bad!
