Timeless has been in the news quite a bit recently. First, NBC renewed the TV series for a second season only after cancelling it. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the network has quietly settled a lawsuit with Spanish media company Onza Entertainment.
The action-adventure drama follows a history professor, a soldier, and a scientist as they travel through time to stop a mysterious criminal. The cast includes Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Malcolm Barrett, Goran Visnjic, and Paterson Joseph.
Last September, Onza Entertainment sued NBC, claiming Timeless “was “ripped off” from Spanish drama El Ministerio del Tiempo (The Department of Time). Later, NBC and production company Sony fired back, saying the time-travel genre lends itself to overlap.
Now, it appears the lawsuit has been settled, with both parties filing a joint motion for dismissal earlier this week.

I’m glad that Timeless will be back for season 2 and I plan to watch it faithfully as I did for the first season. I like the actors, I appreciate that it’s a family friendly show that teens might enjoy and I like the connection (even though not always accurate just for the sake of storytelling) to history. I know there are complaints about it sticking to one formula and that was true for several shows that I enjoyed this past season, so it would be nice to see more variation in the episodes without losing the characteristics that make… Read more »

We are Extremely happy NBC uncanceled. This show is riveting & smart. We need programs about our American History. Too many crappy, mindless, Reality Shows, which does nothing to stimulate one’s brain. Kudos NBC

I LOVE Timeless and was furious with NBC for cancelling it. So happy they changed their minds! This lastest story makes me wonder if NBC tried to cancel it to cover their ass in the lawsuit?

I’m absolutely thrilled it was eventually renewed. That decision was unlike NBC so credit to them for listening to the many complaints from viewers. Writers do a nice job of blending excitement with historical figures such that each episode (although fairly foundational in final outcome) always entertains. Only down side for me is I deleted it from my DVR series-to-record-list once NBC cancelled it and with their change of mind I now have to keep checking window within 2 weeks of season two so I can again tag it as a series record. Happy that timeless is back for a second series. What network will show it?
Hopefully NBC promotes it a lot before it airs as it won’t be on until the summer of 2018.
