Tommy won’t be back on patrol next season. CBS just announced that the network has cancelled the cop drama and won’t be ordering a second season for the 2020-21 broadcast season.
The Tommy series revolves around a former high-ranking NYPD officer who becomes the first female chief of police for Los Angeles. Abigail “Tommy” Thomas (Edie Falco) uses unflinching honesty and hardball tactics to keep social, political, and national security issues from hindering effective law enforcement in the Southland. The CBS drama also stars Michael Chernus, Adelaide Clemens, Thomas Sadoski, Russell G. Jones, Olivia Lucy Phillip, Joseph Lyle Taylor, and Vladimir Caamaño.
Airing on Thursday nights, the first season of Tommy averages a 0.49 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.85 million viewers. The cancellation doesn’t come as much of a surprise as the drama is the network’s lowest-rated scripted series.
The 12th and final installment of Tommy airs tomorrow night.

Watched Tommy all the time. Wanted a second season.
Tommy has been such an amazing program to be able to watch with my children and grandchildren. My granddaughters were excited to see women cops and female Chief of Police. Their father is a police officer and he would let them know how it was possible for them to do what ever they dreamed of doing using Tommy as an example.
Sorry it’s been cancelled. We enjoyed the characters & stories and lack of violence & gore. We’d watch season 3

Yes, we watched Tommy every week. It was well written and had a fantastic cast. Nice seeing a women in a leading role. Love the diversity. Edie Falco is wonderful. We are so tired of network TV being mostly reality shows. Looking for good dramas like Tommy. We are disappointed and furious to hear of its cancellation.
I think they made a big mistake cancelling that show and I really enjoyed it and Abigail Tommy is the best dramatic lesbian police chief I ever watched that was really well written. The chief is coming after you if you don’t bring it back!
We love Tommy. Great acting, wonderful story. Why would you not give it a chance. I am very disappointed. We watch CBS dramas all the time but apparently you are now like other networks that do not give a show any chances any more. Very very disappointed. We have many friends & family watch Tommy also. Terrible

Tommy is a great show. Masterful acting and great actors. It is a shame to cancel one of the few good show on.
Don’t cancel Tommy, while I disagree with some things in it, it is a quality production and has value in today’s world we don’t see enough Justice today and Falco is splended.
