TV show description:
This crime thriller series is based on the feature film of the same name and picks up some 15 years later.
Detective Frank Rourke (Bill Paxon) is the maverick head of the Special Investigation Section (SIS) that hunts the city’s most dangerous criminals. He’s also one of the finest investigators the department has ever produced.
However, when the LAPD brass notices Rourke’s penchant for operating in a gray area to fight the war on crime, they assign Kyle Craig (Justin Cornwell), a heroic and untarnished cop, to pose as Frank’s trainee to spy on him and report on his off-book methods.
The members of Frank’s loyal team include Rebecca Lee (Katrina Law), a formidable officer with killer aim and a dark past, and Tommy Campbell (Drew Van Acker), a former pro surfer who follows Frank’s orders without hesitation.
The team’s cases find Frank and Kyle often crossing paths with Detective Valeria Chavez (Christina Vidal), one of the LAPD’s top investigators. Providing Frank with intel is his girlfriend, Holly Butler (Julie Benz) — a well-connected, unapologetic Hollywood madam.
While LAPD Deputy Chief Joy Lockhart (Marianne Jean-Baptiste) coolly puts Kyle in danger in her mission to take down Frank, Kyle’s schoolteacher wife, Alyse (Lex Scott Davis), worries her husband’s resolve to avenge the murder of his cop father may be his undoing.
As Frank starts teaching his principled trainee the way of the streets — where the ends often justify the means — they form an uneasy alliance that will change the course of both their lives irrevocably.
Episode #13 — Elegy, Part 2
Kyle, Tommy and Rebecca must rescue Frank when he goes on a rogue mission to Mexico to locate intel linked to the murder of Kyle’s father.
First aired: May 20, 2017.
What do you think? Do you like the Training Day TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Keep it there are enough stupid reality game shows on. I think this show is unique. Keep it. Please!
Watched every episode and looked forward to the next. Surely there is a way to continue this show. Bill Paxton was great, but his character could be handled by another actor. And eventually be accepted and appreciated by the fans of the show.
I loved this show and bill Paxton will be missed but I hope it stays on the air
I loved it. Watched every episode. Wish it had been renewed.
I thoroughly enjoyed the series, and was deeply saddened with the passing of Bill Paxton. Mr. Paxton was an excellent character actor as well as a leading man. He brought so much to this character, wittiness, timing, and seriousness. I know it would be very difficult to replace his character, Frank. It can be done; it’s Hollywood where almost anything is possible. All thumbs up on ‘Training Day ‘. Hate to see it cancelled.
Oh my goodness! Don’t cancel! R.I.P Mr Paxton! But re cast, re write and keep the show.
I’ve decided perhaps they should rewrite this 4 season 2 since the passing of Bill Paxton R.I.P.! Maybe they should have Angie Harmon playing the crotchety older officer and Piper Percabo as the trainee?? It has a pause 4 consideration. I do not currently want this show 2 end just cause the Main Actor passed away!!!
I enjoy watching the show. Losing Mr. Paxton is a terrible loss, but the show is good and the characters are interesting.
Really love this show do not cancel. It offers generational maturity in a gray world which resembles today’s world. Good mystery, intelligent thought plus action adventure. Bill Paxton’s character has great depth, with all of you who have created such and excellent show , I know you can figure how to make it continue. Thank you
Please save this show. My husband and I do not miss an episode.
I started watching Training Day a few episodes in and after only three episodes I purchased the season on iTunes. Such an interesting and well written show is rare these days! CBS please keep this show on for another year! Quality shows take a bit more time to find their audience e.g., MASH.
Please give training day a chance for a second season. My husband and kids love to watch it as much as I do. I think Kurt Russell would be a great replacement for Bill Paxton’s character , but
I’m sure he prefers movies. But you need someone similar to Bill or Kurt.
Training Day has by far been one of the best dramas put on by CBS! Jerry Bruckheimer never fails to disappoint. It was with deep regret when we heard of Bill Paxon’s death. He added so much to a main character that we came to really like. But surely you can find a comparable, good actor to replace him. This is one T.V. drama that my husband and I have followed from day one. PLEASE find a way of keeping it on the air!!
Love this show and was truly saddened to hear of Bill Paxton sudden death, he was an exceptional gifted Actor and will be truly missed, but that being said I love this show and live the story line and all the other gifted actors that play in this show, I believe if given the time this show is going to be one of your top rating shows ever. Please save this show, and RIP Bill Paxton.
Please please please find a way to save this show! Love the cast, and it needs time to get into a groove.
Bill Paxton has been one of my favorite actors for years. It truly broke my heart when he passed and I immediately set up my TIVO to record anything with him in it. Having said that, I love this show and think either Randy Quaid or Keven Bacon could cover this role as his brother or something to enter as a character. I doubt Bill would have wanted the show cancelled if he had foreseen his death. I will miss Bill in this show and wish more than anything he was still around.
