TNT has picked up seasons one and two of Transporter The Series, a new TV series based on the Transporter feature film series. The show was originally slated to air on Cinemax but that cable channel dropped it.
Here are the details:
Transporter The Series Coming to TNT in Fall 2014
TNT Lands U.S. Television Rights to Action-Packed Drama As Production Begins on Second Season in Morocco
TNT has picked up Transporter The Series, making the network the U.S. television home for the exhilarating, adrenaline-charged series based on the smash-hit movie franchise. TNT will air the first and second seasons of the series, which will make its U.S. television debut on the network in fall 2014. Season two, which is slated to premiere worldwide in late 2014, will go into production Feb. 26, with shooting planned for Morocco, the Czech Republic and Canada.
Transporter The Series stars British actor Chris Vance, whose credits include Prison Break, Dexter and Burn Notice. A familiar face to TNT viewers, Vance has a recurring role on the network’s hit series Rizzoli & Isles, in which he plays Lt. Col. Charles “Casey” Jones, Jane Rizzoli’s on-again-off-again romantic interest.
Transporter The Series centers on Frank Martin (Vance), a professional “transporter” paid to pick up and deliver people or cargo from anywhere in the world. Frank is the very best at what he does and handles only the most difficult dangerous and assignments. Transporter The Series features dry wit, exotic locations, heart-pounding action and nail-biting suspense.
“Transporter The Series is a roller-coaster ride with big-screen action, fantastic locations and an extremely charismatic lead in Chris Vance,” said Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). “The Transporter franchise is a proven winner embraced by movie and television viewers around the globe, and we’re proud that TNT will become the television home for fans in the United States. Transporter The Series is a perfect addition to TNT’s lineup, as we continue to expand our reach with such action-packed dramas as our upcoming Legends and The Last Ship.”
Transporter The Series is produced by Atlantique Productions, with executive producer Olivier Bibas (Borgia, Jo), and QVF Inc., with producer Susan Murdoch (Doomstown, Dan for Mayor). The series is commissioned in France by M6 and in Canada by The Movie Network and Movie Central. Award-winning writer and producer Frank Spotnitz (X-Files, Hunted, Strikeback) has come on board as the new showrunner and executive producer of the 12-episode second season. Also serving as executive producers are Chris Vance and award-winning producer Fred Fuchs (The Godfather: Part III, Bram Stoker’s Dracula).

What do you think? Does this sound like a good idea for a series?
Please bring back the Transporter for season 3. Maybe if you gave it a better time slot you would get better ratings. I have talked to people who didn’t even know there was a series.
Linda,
The finale of Season 2 shows Frank and a bad guy racing head-on in a narrow alley, then you hear a big crash.
I would assume that ended the series, with Frank committing suicide rather than going to prison.
Your thoughts?
I really enjoy Transporter: The Series and I think it’s a consistently well written and well acted television show. Chris Vance’s dry wit keeps it fun and the action scenes well choreographed and exciting to watch. Although, I was initially bummed when the Dieter and Carla characters left the show after only the first season, I like how Cat and Jules’ have been more involved out in the field with Frank during the second season. I also like Frank and Cat’s chemistry on screen. I just hope her character doesn’t leave now too! Hopefully TNT realizes they have a great… Read more »
Really liked season 1. Had never watched the movie so decided to watch the movies. UGH. Could not stand Jason strahan. Too boring & not good looking. So onto season 2. What? Drop Carla & Dieter? They were great. New guys Boring. Scripts boring. What happened to the exciting driving? I have kept watching thinking maybe but as of season 2 episode 10 will not be watching season 3 if they don’t change. Have dieter come back from the dead & bring Carla back
I started watching the series when it started to air on TNT. I have never heard of the Transporter movies at all. I enjoyed the T.V. series a lot. It was nice to see a show on a Saturday night. I do it comes back with season 3 just see what happened at the end of season 2. Because just to leave a show hanging like that is it far. So please bring back a season 3. Thank you.
I have became fan the show. I watch it very Saturday nights on TNT. I was wondering is there going to be a third season of the show? Thank for answering me.
On the “new” Transporter series, I miss the original mechanic that was taken off two episodes ago and I miss Carla, I have not seen her in the “new” Transporter, you have some other “bimbo” that is not like Carla at all. I hope you keep the French Inspector, and I hope you replace the mechanic with someone like him…. maybe his twin brother???
Remember the car has a lot to do with this TV Series as well and needs a good machanic
Love the Transporter series. I hope TNT has enough sense to keep such a great show.
Transporter the Series is great action program. I look forward to future episodes, BUT the change killing off his mechanic and bringing in the new female sidekick doesn’t do much justice. This is all about the transporter. This is one time I must say, female is not necessary. I like his female office assistant, who keeps it all together and him on time. Let the sidekick go and bring me another mechanic. 🙂
I watch more TNT than any other network and I have enjoyed many of their series, including The Tranporter. Interested to seeing how this series plays out in the ratings; also, if the writers of this series will listen to their followers and make a few adjustments. Everyone has an opinion (always ready to share that opinion) and when you hear many of the same constructive type comments, it bears listening to. BTW!! I really dislike reality shows and will not be watching The Wives of Nashville or any other City!!! OR “The Bachelor & Bachelorette” or any other dating… Read more »
The first season was wonderfully written and I looked forward to the next episode, but now I’ve just watched the ninth episode of the second season and am stunned by the pale and complete failure in the writing capabilities. The filming and the writing combination absolutely ended this series.I felt sad for the actors who were being paid to participate in this pretend second season. The show will definitely be cancelled because of the inadequate personal for this show to continue. That is of course my opinion.
Love ❤ transporter the series missed some of the first season but the shows that I have seen are terrific please keep this series around
transporter tv series is one of a very few great non-reality shows on tv. I could watch the show every day. Not only does the show have a great deal of action but the plots are simple but entertaining. I like that. I like to enjoy a tv show rather than spending the whole hour trying to understand it….. My only complaint is that I can’t buy season #1 on DVD in The USA.
show was horrible
transporter series is ok-not fantastic-but some parts r grt-hope they show in right eps order–if anyone knows–other countries, have all shown in different order
as for reality crap-rubbish–theres more new listed,reality/than good drama/action.and that’s not right
I have to say, I am not overwhelmed by the shows TNT is choosing. They had wonderful shows which either ended or got canceled. I think I read somewhere that they are going to debut two new sitcoms, too. Yeah, that’s my signal to head out of the room and find a much better one! Good luck, TNT. Perhaps for the first time, the lack of us baby boomers will be noticed. We have much higher expectations than sitcoms and shows based on Cartoon characters.
No thanks, TNT. Can this and the Nashville Wives show you got coming.
