To no surprise whatsoever, NBC has cancelled their Monday night medical TV show, Trauma — for real this time.
Trauma revolves around a group of brave first responder paramedics in San Francisco. The high-action series is populated by an ensemble cast that includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The NBC series got off to a poor start last fall with just a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.68 million viewers. The ratings fell from there and the show was essentially cancelled when the network decided not to order additional episodes beyond the initial baker’s dozen.
Then, in large part because the show was still in production and NBC needed additional original programming, the network ordered an additional seven episodes. Viewership continued to fall and NBC cut back their additional order to five installments. The last one aired on April 26th.
Though NBC has a lot of slots to fill on the 2010-11 schedule, Trauma’s ratings were just too low to pay for a second season. It’s been cancelled after 18 episodes.
Though devoted fans may mourn the series’ demise, a consolation might be that they got five more episodes than the ratings realistically warranted.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Trauma won’t be back next season? Any thoughts on how you would have wrapped up the series?

I been waiting since the last episode anxiously all summer waiting to see what was going to happen and now this…. loved this show soooo much…. hoping they would consider putting it back on which i doubt…
I loved this show. I’m very sad to see it go……..
Wow NBC!!! Trauma and Mercy gone. These were two shows I was actually excited to watch, DVR or watch On Demand. Extremely disappointing.
NBC is really stupid to cancel a show that move right into where ER was, I want ti know what made them make this decession.
I cant believe its gone i loved this show and thought it was very good. This was one show my fiance and i watched together! 🙁
I really loved this show! It was clever and funny! I wish NBC would reconsider or another station would pick it up!
Very disappionted ! They cancelled both of my favorite shows. I kept wondering why I havnt seen it yet this fall. My husband and I recorded it on dvr and watched it together every week ! There really isnt a whole lot on tv anymore that I like to watch. Why do they cancel the good shows!
tht sucks really bad i loved tht show it was awesum
This show was my favorite because i’m attending school to become a medic. I think they would be stupid to cancel but then again they dnt care about how viewers feel it’s all about the money for them
Trauma turned me into a TV watcher again, but I think i’m giving up TV for now. I’ll admit I think Outsourced looks funny, but I just don’t see the point in getting hooked on a new show when they cancel my favorites after one season. At the very least, i’d say the Now Broadcasting Crap network has lost me. Are they still struggling to figure out why people don’t watch as much TV anymore?
WHAT no sereis 2? sorry for the spelling error. how can this be the high paced fast drama medical show about paramedics and emt’s cancels. Thats a damn shame one of the 2 shows about e.r i watch the other being casualty. I watched this on virgin1 every monday night for 17 weeks then it stopped. nbc shame on you from across the atlantic SHAME ON YOU NBC from andy sunderland england
It is a shame that it was canceled. I feel maybe they should have put it in a different time slot and tried it there for a while. Personally, I loved the show and wish I could afford to have them make episodes just for my personal viewing.
