To no surprise whatsoever, NBC has cancelled their Monday night medical TV show, Trauma — for real this time.
Trauma revolves around a group of brave first responder paramedics in San Francisco. The high-action series is populated by an ensemble cast that includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The NBC series got off to a poor start last fall with just a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.68 million viewers. The ratings fell from there and the show was essentially cancelled when the network decided not to order additional episodes beyond the initial baker’s dozen.
Then, in large part because the show was still in production and NBC needed additional original programming, the network ordered an additional seven episodes. Viewership continued to fall and NBC cut back their additional order to five installments. The last one aired on April 26th.
Though NBC has a lot of slots to fill on the 2010-11 schedule, Trauma’s ratings were just too low to pay for a second season. It’s been cancelled after 18 episodes.
Though devoted fans may mourn the series’ demise, a consolation might be that they got five more episodes than the ratings realistically warranted.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Trauma won’t be back next season? Any thoughts on how you would have wrapped up the series?

I’m a physician administrator. I practiced medicine for many years, and as a hospital administrator, I was responsible for a community EMS service for many years. Trauma was quite realistic and enjoyable, and I regret that NBC cancelled it. I’ve often wondered if the success of a TV show has as much (maybe even more) to do with its scheduled time slot vs the substance of the show. Perhaps Trauma would have succeeded in a different time slot, or perhaps its just a function of NBC’s inability to do things right!
It really doesn’t suprise me nbc seems to cancel all the good shows and puts the today show on for 3 or 4 hours come on is anybody really suprised
Really wish they would bring this show back! PLEASE,
love this show. watched the whole first season on netflixs last month. went looking for season 2 and found this im very unhappy right now.
I can’t believe this show has been cancelled, I have been checking to see when its back on so I finally checked on line to see this. This is a fantastic show. Please consider putting it back on. I am so disappointed.
Guys come on…I actually fly on a helo as a medic/nurse and this show is NOTHING like our job!!! All it does is make us look like a bunch of cowboys!! Don’t get me wrong, I was sooo excited to finally have a show that included a medevac…but wow!!! If they just would have had a person to guide them and make the show “like it really is” then I bit you the rating would have went off the charts. That was the problem….we watched the 1st episode at work and turned it in the 1st 20mins!!

Trauma & Mercy both gone? Come on, NBC, you really need to get it together. You have always been my favorite network, but you keep slipping & slipping every year.
This was an awesome show.. Been in ems for 15 years and thus was the best medical show on tv.. My husband and I wT he’d it together and miss it.. We would love for you to bring it back… Thank you
I really loved this show since im a high school kid and my dream job is to become a medic this show inspired me SO much. It was the best show ever and i was so excited for the next season until u had to cancel it>:(. im VERY dissapointed it doesnt come on anymore. thanks NBC.
Im so mad trauma got canceled!!!! Im in high school and my dream job is to become a medic. this show really helped a lot because it enspired me to work hard and try to become a medic. I really think it is stupid that the canceled it!!!!
Really?! Really?! What next? Every time I get into a great show on NBC….BAM GONE. Trauma…Mercy…. Getting sick of this, maybe time to move on.
This is ridiculous. We finally get a good medical show on TV and it’s canceled? As a medic I can say that this show is a hell of a lot more accurate than some medical shows out there that rely only on soap opera bull.
i hate they cacncelled it,loved the show, especially Rabbit!
I loved the show Trauma and was really looking forward to it’s return, as did my family. I am extremely disappointed that NBC dropped it. It was finally a show that showed how difficult it can be for those that work in the field, it showed the highs and lows. Wow, major disappointment.
