To no surprise whatsoever, NBC has cancelled their Monday night medical TV show, Trauma — for real this time.
Trauma revolves around a group of brave first responder paramedics in San Francisco. The high-action series is populated by an ensemble cast that includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The NBC series got off to a poor start last fall with just a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.68 million viewers. The ratings fell from there and the show was essentially cancelled when the network decided not to order additional episodes beyond the initial baker’s dozen.
Then, in large part because the show was still in production and NBC needed additional original programming, the network ordered an additional seven episodes. Viewership continued to fall and NBC cut back their additional order to five installments. The last one aired on April 26th.
Though NBC has a lot of slots to fill on the 2010-11 schedule, Trauma’s ratings were just too low to pay for a second season. It’s been cancelled after 18 episodes.
Though devoted fans may mourn the series’ demise, a consolation might be that they got five more episodes than the ratings realistically warranted.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Trauma won’t be back next season? Any thoughts on how you would have wrapped up the series?

I tell you, they sure know how to upset the viewers. I loved this show, they really need to bring this one back. How does so much crazy crap stay on for seasons and a good show gets the boot after one season. Come on NBC, WAKE UP.
I just heard of this show. WOW!!! I am sad to hear that this show wont be able to continue. Its one of my favorites. I wish i had new when it was on, on nbc. I would of watched it.
I am a UK viewer and have just googled and found that this is cancelled, I am so pee’d off, it was fantastic. Why does this always happen with shows I love, was NBC responsible for men in trees as well???
My friend and I both work late, but would rush home in time to watch it together. She was “in love” with Rabbit; I just thought the show was well done in that it was NOT the typical malarky we get with those types of shows
This is getting ridiculous…finally, a REALLY REALLY good show omes along that is NOT a reality TV show, and shows us what life is like as an EMT/Parametic in the Emergency field, and they kill it because they need more “Biggest Losers”? TV is becoming a joke…I agree with Firefighter/EMT…It was right in line with what we learn in EMT school, and is unfortunate that more people in this county care more about “The Apprentice” crpa then they do the shows that reflect the people that are their to save their lives…NBC..you SUCK!
I hate that this show was cancelled because it is a great show and it goes along with the things im learning in EMT school!
im with everybody else why why would u cut a great show, this better be on a dvd some day!!!
I’m bummed Trauma is completely canceled. I really liked it. The first season seemed like a great start. Too bad.
This was a GREAT show and I am very disappointed that this was cancelled! The show had great actors and great themes both dramatic and funny. It truly kept the attention of our family.
All I can say is there was finally a good show and now there is not. Sad, very sad.
I really loved this show. I hope they reconsider. It had some much action, drama and it was also funny at times.
I loved this show. I really hated to see it go and wish they would bring it back. It was filled with much excitement, honor, humor and was very exillerating. As many ridiculous shows that are on tv right now and have been running for years, I cant understand why this show would be cut. I just found the season on netflix and watched it in a week. I was sad to see it end.
What he said
THIS Sucks NBC has a really poor attitude when it comes to shows that are GREAT. I loved this show it was exciting one of the many shows my wife and I watched together. They did the same thing to Chuck until there was letter writting companion and they were unindated with letters and emails from loyal fans to the show.
I ask and wish that NBC would bring it back not only the fact that it was interesting but, the stories and personal lives of the characters on the show.
This was the best show. It had alot of excitement in it and you go and cancel it. That sucks. They need to take off half of the stupid reality shows and cop shows and put something real to life on. I dont watch much tv because there is nothing worth watching except fringe and survivor. Please put trauma back on.
THIS REALLY SUCKS, BECAUSE I REALLY REALLY LIKED THE SHOW.
