To no surprise whatsoever, NBC has cancelled their Monday night medical TV show, Trauma — for real this time.
Trauma revolves around a group of brave first responder paramedics in San Francisco. The high-action series is populated by an ensemble cast that includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The NBC series got off to a poor start last fall with just a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.68 million viewers. The ratings fell from there and the show was essentially cancelled when the network decided not to order additional episodes beyond the initial baker’s dozen.
Then, in large part because the show was still in production and NBC needed additional original programming, the network ordered an additional seven episodes. Viewership continued to fall and NBC cut back their additional order to five installments. The last one aired on April 26th.
Though NBC has a lot of slots to fill on the 2010-11 schedule, Trauma’s ratings were just too low to pay for a second season. It’s been cancelled after 18 episodes.
Though devoted fans may mourn the series’ demise, a consolation might be that they got five more episodes than the ratings realistically warranted.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Trauma won’t be back next season? Any thoughts on how you would have wrapped up the series?

I really enjoyed the show as well and I was really frustrated when I found out the show was cancelled. The storylines for the most part were really good and the cast seemed to compliment one another well. It would have been nice for NBC to ask the viewers their opinions of the show. I think they should really bring the show back!
I loved Trauma! I absolutely love medical dramas, and this one in particular led me to look more into what really goes on in the real EMT/Paramedic world, and eventually to choose this as my career choice. I’m devastated. I really am.
WTF!?! I guess I’m a little slow but I just found out this awesome show got canceled. W.T.F. Awesome show, great charactors and story lines. It’s really not NBC’s fault it was canceled it was OUR fault for not telling enough people what a great show this was. but shame on NBC anyways. I hardly EVER watch MBC programming but this show was a keeper! R.I.P. Trauma, you will be missed.
Very Disappointed that they cancelled a show that was actually a good one and could have went places.. They had a great cast and a great story line.. Thumbs down to NBC for a stupid decision.. Next time ask the public before you think you know what you are doing.
i am very upset… WTH!! I am in EMS and yes most of this does not happen in EMS, but I loved the show, pure BS!!!!!! They should give it a second chance 🙂
I loved this show. it had its moments when it could have been deemed inappropriate. but over all, a lot of action, and human moments that really hit me in a good way. I want it back.
Please bring Trauma !!!! We need a season two plus!!! Awesome show, great cast, perfect setting!!! Some people can’t afford regular cable so they enjoy your shows through netflix or hulu or whatever… They still enjoy the show so your ratings polls are wrong!!! Trauma is enjoyed and wanted back!!!
awww i really was looking forward for this show to return! bummed really hope the network changes their mind!
We just found Trauma through Netflix (all of episode 1 is available there for instant streaming free). I’m soooo disappointed they canceled this show!
I am really sad that Trauma was canceled. I spent good time with every episode and I can not believe that more people dont like it.
why???? i actually liked this show!
Would have been a great show. Had lots of good stuff. But I was frankly offended by the female paramedic character. Real life we do not have sex with our working partners in the back of a ambulance!
sometimes we do :0)
Here we go again! Another excellent show bites the dust : (
This show was not only jam packed full of action, real medicine and amazing characters…but this was pure mother-son bonding time for me!
My son is devastated. I am in a state of depression. Way to go NBC!
I freaking love trauma!!! An NBC sucks for canceling it, they have so many other shows tht they should cancel instead!
i really enjoyed the hell out of this show. the cast was amazing with great character development and exciting story. NBC, bring this show back!!!
