To no surprise whatsoever, NBC has cancelled their Monday night medical TV show, Trauma — for real this time.
Trauma revolves around a group of brave first responder paramedics in San Francisco. The high-action series is populated by an ensemble cast that includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The NBC series got off to a poor start last fall with just a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.68 million viewers. The ratings fell from there and the show was essentially cancelled when the network decided not to order additional episodes beyond the initial baker’s dozen.
Then, in large part because the show was still in production and NBC needed additional original programming, the network ordered an additional seven episodes. Viewership continued to fall and NBC cut back their additional order to five installments. The last one aired on April 26th.
Though NBC has a lot of slots to fill on the 2010-11 schedule, Trauma’s ratings were just too low to pay for a second season. It’s been cancelled after 18 episodes.
Though devoted fans may mourn the series’ demise, a consolation might be that they got five more episodes than the ratings realistically warranted.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Trauma won’t be back next season? Any thoughts on how you would have wrapped up the series?

Why do the networks have to cancel TV shows that are good and air the reality shows that are awful? There’s nothing good on TV anymore. This was one of the shows that I watched religiously because it was good, right along with Third Watch and ER (before they were canceled).
This show was so addictive along with Mercy. Yet they still play some of the lamest reality shows ever devised. give them a second chance. I recall hardly any advertising pertaining to the both of them. Listen to the public NBC!!!
Absolutely loved this show I still have all 18 episodes on my dvr and watch them often. I think it is really sad that they aren’t airing another season. As a nurse I generally can’t stand to watch most medical shows due to the fact they everything is so staged and unreal Trauma really hit the nail on the head though you could feel the aderaline rush sitting on your couch in the comfort of your own living room. I really hope the network will reconsider and air another season only this time advertise the show more I know of… Read more »

NBC you need to market your tv shows better. This show was great NBC just fail to deliver its part of bring in viewers to the show!!
I am a big Fan of the show Emergency from the 1970’s and when i saw your show Trauma for the first time and i loved it from the very First Episode.
i liked how you had Kevin Tighe from Emergency Guest Star as Acting Captain Cal .
Over the weekend, i had noticed that this series was on Netflix and i had watched all 18 Episodes . I would love to see More Episodes of this Show.
Why is it that they show a great show and then take it of the TV. This show was more authintic then ER, GREY’S, etc. this show has shown the real people and what a real trauma is like. I wish they would let another season have a go of it aqgain. Maybe they don’t want the other shows to loose their shine.
i hate to see it go i would have loved to watch it when it was aired but we couldnt afford cable so i didnt get to see it, I bought it and love it and got my bf hooked on it now too, I am a working EMT in medic school now and this series has helped me a lot with scene manegment. Tv channels need to get more shows that relate to medics and what we go through on a daily basis because too many people are unaware of the lifestyle we are in and what we sacrifice… Read more »
Maybe tnt will realize this show rules like southland and pick it back up. Love the show.
I love this show!!!! I rarely get a chance to watch tv and when I watched this on it’s second season I fell in love right away! I watched all the first season to catch up. I’m sure there are alot more people that would be interested in the show. NBC hardly showed any previews/commericals on the tv series for Trauma. I believe it’s one of the better series on the air for NBC. Whats this fictional show starting in 2011, The Cape…. Now that looks stupid! Trauma was real and about the healthcare given to patients outside the hospital… Read more »
I just bought the 1st season of Trauma and boy was I excited to see it since I watched it on TV. I waso disappointed when it wasnt on the air anymore because since the series ER was on this is even better then ER because everything isand so graphic and real ,the way they play out the scene of the accident before it happens is amazing!!!!! It always looks so real. The actors and actresses are all very good and very talented. I looked forward to this show every week like I look forward to American idol every year… Read more »
Put this show back on public TV. This show is amazing and very addicting along with keeping you on your toes. It also helps with students who are going through the medical fields, or such as me going to school for this kind of feild. This show is absolutly amazing and think it should be aired.
I loved this show. I hate that they cancled it. They also ways screw over the fans to these shows that they make then drop.
Cant believe that this fantastic show has been cancelled. There are lots of hospital dramas around but this was the one that took over where the also now finished, ER left off. I didnt think anything would replace ER but Trauma almost made it. Bring it back!
Are You Serious!!! u leave Donald Trump on and take off this show??? maybe if we took off Half of the reality shows people would watch these good ones instead!!! VERY UPSET!!!
