In October, NBC decided not to order any additional episodes of the low-rated series, Trauma, essentially canceling the show after 13 episodes. Then, a few weeks later, NBC ordered three additional installments, likely because they anticipated holes in their spring schedule and the show’s producers were able to significantly cut production costs.
The show’s been off the air since November but the network has now announced that it’s coming back. Is there a chance that the show could actually see a second season?
Taking place in San Francisco, Trauma follows a group of first responders who risk their lives to save others. The cast includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The network recently announced that they were cancelling The Jay Leno Show as of February 12th. That means that, when NBC finishes airing its coverage of the Winter Olympics, the network will have five more hours of primetime to fill. That’s good news for Trauma.

NBC has announced that Trauma will be returning to Monday nights starting on March 8th. They’ve also just ordered three additional episodes, bringing the season total to 20. That means that there are 10 new episodes of Trauma to come.
If the new episodes of Trauma can attract significantly more viewers, the show might have a very good shot at being renewed — especially if the show can continue to be produced economically.
At the recent Television Critics Association winter press tour, Angela Bromstad, NBC’s Primetime Entertainment President, didn’t rule out the show having a future and the new episode order is certainly promising.
However, NBC has plans to beef up their pilot development for next season. The network will develop 10 dramas and eight half-hour comedies. For Trauma to get a spot on the 2010-11 schedule, the low-rated series will have to inspire more confidence than the new shows.
What do you think? Do you think Trauma has a real chance at survival or is it still doomed?

I miss trauma. I through the show was excited. I nomally don’t watch NBC. The only shows I view are law and order svu, mercy. Since trauma started I try not to miss a episode on monday.
They need to move Trauma to the 10:00 hour. I HATE that it’s on the same time as 24. So please, NBC, move Trauma up an hour! Pretty please?!?!
Great show!!!
Yeah gotta keep trauma its a good to watch im hooked on it just gotta remember wen it on lol
Keeep Trauma, enough comedy already, we all love the show and the characters are great. Look forward to monday nights for Trauma, if they can keep Mercy on, give Trauma a break, i thought they would cancel Mercy not Trauma, that’s why Mercy has great ratings because Trauma is off the air. This is a great show
Trauma’s slot should be replaced with Parenthood.
Parenthood is an awesome show and incomparable to trauma.
CANCEL Trauma!
so excited… cant wait for monday when the new season starts…
Me and my husband have been wondering when the new season was going to start, then we heard that it was cancelled. I almost had a heart attack. We LOVE this show. I don’t understand why it didn’t have better ratings. Maybe they need to do more advertising, because that show is worth putting some money into, you have to spend money to make it. The actors are great and believable, they have great story lines. I was happy to hear that they are going to give it a second chance. I really hope that people tune in and watch,… Read more »
Wattup y’all. Eneone gotz sum showz fo da soul? Put on house of payne insted of tis bs.if u keep trauma black folks will git traumatized n sey y’all racist.
I love the show and hope that it comes back to stay for good. The show has everything that you can ask for in a tv series. Why more people are not watching the show? I don’t know. Maybe the night it was on was not a good one for the show. Maybe there are too many shows on already for that time slot that have loyal viewers… All I know is that I love the show and can’t wait for the new episodes to air!
I have loved the show from the beginning and am excited to see Cliff Curtis in my living room every week.
I was hooked on Trauma from the first 5 minutes it was on and couldn’t wait for the next episode to air. It has everything….action, humor, and drama. I hope more people realize what a fantastic show this is so the rating will go up and they won’t cancel it.
They are filming Trauma like crazy here in SF. There’s been helicopter chase scenes with spotlights, and I just watched Rabbit and that hot blonde doing a scene in front of Tosca bar in North Beach. They smiled and waved at us when we took their photo between scenes. The cast and crew have been very friendly to everyone in this city and I love the show.
I LOVE TRAMA you have to keep it on!!!
We Love Trauma! I went to Treasure Island and saw the set they use as their Hub. It was exciting to actually see the building and some of the props used to make the show. Since it ended with a sort of cliffhanger, they have some explaining to do. I think in the next season the characters will develop and the show will really take off.
