In October, NBC decided not to order any additional episodes of the low-rated series, Trauma, essentially canceling the show after 13 episodes. Then, a few weeks later, NBC ordered three additional installments, likely because they anticipated holes in their spring schedule and the show’s producers were able to significantly cut production costs.
The show’s been off the air since November but the network has now announced that it’s coming back. Is there a chance that the show could actually see a second season?
Taking place in San Francisco, Trauma follows a group of first responders who risk their lives to save others. The cast includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The network recently announced that they were cancelling The Jay Leno Show as of February 12th. That means that, when NBC finishes airing its coverage of the Winter Olympics, the network will have five more hours of primetime to fill. That’s good news for Trauma.

NBC has announced that Trauma will be returning to Monday nights starting on March 8th. They’ve also just ordered three additional episodes, bringing the season total to 20. That means that there are 10 new episodes of Trauma to come.
If the new episodes of Trauma can attract significantly more viewers, the show might have a very good shot at being renewed — especially if the show can continue to be produced economically.
At the recent Television Critics Association winter press tour, Angela Bromstad, NBC’s Primetime Entertainment President, didn’t rule out the show having a future and the new episode order is certainly promising.
However, NBC has plans to beef up their pilot development for next season. The network will develop 10 dramas and eight half-hour comedies. For Trauma to get a spot on the 2010-11 schedule, the low-rated series will have to inspire more confidence than the new shows.
What do you think? Do you think Trauma has a real chance at survival or is it still doomed?

So Happy to see Trauma on NBC Monday . It was a new episode. Love this Show Keep it on PLEASE!!!!
Keep Trauma! Keep Mercy! They are both so good!
Whoever is in charge, PLEASE keep Trauma on the air!!! I hate most TV shows but I LOVE Trauma! I promise to watch every episode and tell all my friends to watch as well!!!
I LOVE Trauma! However, I also LOVE Mercy! Keep both! They are both medical dramas, but entirely different.
Trauma is worth keeping! My son (who’s in EMT/Fire School) love this show.
My entire family (4 adults) enjoy this extremely enjoy this program. It is high action with a certain amount of theatrical reality and human stories. It’s in San Francisco, what more do you need. Talk about a city that has limitless possibilities of story lines. It is very dissappointing that this show is going to be cancelled.
Really?? You read THIS article and made that comment?? hmmmm Maybe re-read it.
Love TRAUMA!!!!! – cancel Mercy – keep Trauma – best drama on NBC – as far as I’m concerned.
This is very exciting news that trauma is returning! I normally do not go thru all this blogging online but when I heard that this was cancelled I had to log on and find out what NBC was doing and give my two cent about the situation. Anyway, I’m glad to know it’s back and now I can set my DVR again so I don’t miss any episodes.
sooo glad Trauma was on last night I sooo missed it KEEP IT COMING
I was in a live shoot in Chinatown SF. Acting is horrible!
CANCEL it!
Trauma is one of the best shows on TV. Cancel Mercy and bring back Trauma!! Stop pandering to the under 25 crowd and bring some decent programs to network TV. You’re losing a demographic that has money to spend and demands decent quality programming! We watch 90% of our programs on cable because of the poor quality on network TV. Bring us back!

YAY!! I was so excited when my TiVo showed it was recording Trauma! I didn’t even know it was coming back on – what an awesome surprise! PLEASE, PLEASE let them keep this show!!
I LOVE Trauma! Excellent acting, great stories, something to look forward, as long as there are episodes. What a nice option, to able to watch a TV drama, rather than reality TV. I’ve started reading novels instead of watching TV because most of what is available is a waste of time! I was delighted to find out there is an episode tonight! Thanks, NBC, please keep Trauma alive & coming!
We have been very depressed with the news that Trauma was cancelled and would not even air the last 3 episodes. So we are deliriously happy to know that there will be at least several more shows (even reruns would be better than losing it ‘cold turkey’!)
We LOVE this show and all the players in it. Please, please, continue this remarkable show and, if you doubt whether it would be welcome, just read all the comments on this and other sites.
Thank you.

I thought trauma bring some excitement to NBC. Law and Order SVU is pretty good. Maybe if they keep these show on the air NBC ratings might increase. Lke I said earlier I can count on one hand how many shows I view on NBC.
