Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt has been renewed by Netflix for a third season. According to the Hollywood Reporter, this news comes shortly after the streaming service announced that fans would see season two of the series starring Ellie Kemper premiere on April 15.
The series comes from Tina Fey, and it was ordered straight-to-series by NBC originally. Netflix picked up the series after NBC decided to pass on it. When Netflix decided to save the series, it also added a second season on to its order.
Fans have some big surprises ahead on season two. According to TV.com, Tina Fey revealed that she will make an appearance during the second season. The news outlet shared the following:
“Fey also confirmed she will appear in Season 2, while Titus (Tituss Burgess) will find himself in a “real grown-up relationship” and Jacqueline (Jane Krakowski) will try to make it on her own with the pennies from her divorce and eventual return to New York City. ‘They’re giving her opportunities to grow into a fully formed human being this season. She has a greater understanding of what the world is about at the end of this season,’ Krakowski said. ‘Twelve million is not a lot of money!’
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt tells the story of Kimmy, who is played by Kemper. She starts her life over by moving to New York City after spending 15 years in a cult. Fey teased that fans will see more “deeper emotional and life issues” on the series this season.
