Move over Outlaw, NBC has cancelled another new series. The spy dramedy Undercovers is ending its run after 13 episodes.
Undercovers revolves around a married pair of former spies who are pulled back into service after their close friend goes missing. The TV show features the talents of Boris Kodjoe, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mekia Cox, Carter MacIntyre, Gerald McRaney, and Ben Schwartz.
The series stumbled right out of the gate and attracted a disappointing 2.1 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 8.7 million viewers. In week two, the demo fell by 24% to a 1.6 rating and the numbers essentially kept on falling. Last night’s episode hit a new demo low with a 1.3 rating and 5.913 million total viewers.
Though NBC ordered four additional scripts in mid-October, the studio suspected that that show’s been doomed for quite awhile. Today, the network made it official — Undercovers has been cancelled.
It remains to be seen if fans of the series will get to see all 13 installments. Seven episodes have aired so far and three more are scheduled for November 10th, November 17th, and December 1st. NBC has a Shrek holiday special scheduled for Thanksgiving eve (November 24th) and The Sing-Off will take over the timeslot on December 8th.
Three episodes of Undercovers will be left on the shelf at that point and the network will decide at a later date if or when they’ll air.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Undercovers is coming to an end? Why do you think it didn’t catch on? How would you have fixed it?

I loved the show and I will miss it. If it comes back or is picked up by another network, please (producers) reduce or omit the silly and awkward comedy attempts, (this should not be a sitcom), reduce references to their restaurant to a minimum, make it the serious action-drama that it is supposed to be (a secret-service version of Law & Order as an example), and even though I love the bedroom scenes at the end, cut them out and provide a variety of different ending scenes that have nothing to do with their restaurant or their bedroom. Tighten… Read more »
I guess that if I actually like a show it must be the kiss of death for it!
I loved the show. Me and my husband made it a date to watch this show together since I don’t watch sports with him. We were very disappointed to to hear it was cancelled! We have not missed not one show and looked forward to Wednesday’s. I guess Sex cussing and bloody violence is what most people want. I guess a good clean show with suspence and action is not enough!
I loved the show. Even Tvoed it when I couldn’t watch the original. Ratings are what drive a show so I understand why ‘they’ cancelled it but I don’t understand why ‘we’ didn’t watch it enough to keep it on. It’s not like there are THAT many African American starred shows out there. GET WITH IT PEOPLE!! I want to see more on the big screen along with all my other top shows…. CSI, NYPD… you get the picture.
liked the show. And i agree with MT above that there are millions of viewers who either download the show or watch it online.
shouldnt have shelved another good series in the offing.
Another good show bites the dust. Well NBC also cancelled Medium and it was picked up by CBS and bumped off Ghost Whisperer, which was a good show too.
I’m inclined to agree with “Lemont.” How can you expect some much (high ratings) from so little (time aired). I loooove the show, but because of my schedule I can only catch it on the internet. Does the network count those hits when looking at ratings? If not they should.
Loved the showed – they are cancelling too many shows before giving them a chance to take off!
I actually LOVED the and I hate it got canceled. I don’t understand how shows like this get canceled but all the Reality Shows continue to get high ratings. This is ridiculous to me.
Another good show gone. Why can’t we keep good TV shows on the air. They didn’t give it much time to gain an audience. There seems to be no problem keeping crapy shows on.
What a disappointment.
Agreed
I loved that show. I am so sick of losing the ones I love. I am going to read more.
My husband and I really enjoyed Undercovers. We looked forward to watching it each week and now we feel a void on Wed. night. The show was exciting because of the various countries the couple was sent to solve various issues. We thought the script was well written and very similar to the writers’ previous show, The Alias. In addition, the plot omitted unnecessary vulgarity and sex scenes that are found in so many show today. It was refreshing to see an intellegent, attractive, and loving couple working together.
I enjoyed the show but I thought the writing was a little weak.
It could have had more suspense and intensity. … Loved the cast!
I am extremely upset that this decision has been made to cut this show. It is quite brilliant, stunning and exciting.
I do not watch this show on cable or TV. I watch this show through HULU. Are they taking in account for those users who utilize the online options. I’m sure that there quite a few people who watch this show on NBC.com as well as HULU.
I will miss this show dearly!!!!
🙁
I loved the show it seems everytime that I start liking a show it gets canceled
I totally agree, I thought it was a good show and I watched it. I think the 8/7c time slot doomed it
