It looks like the clock has run out on the Unforgettable TV show for real this time. A&E has cancelled the cop drama and won’t be ordering season five.
Unforgettable follows Carrie Wells (Poppy Montgomery), a police detective who has hyperthymesia — a rare medical condition that gives her the ability to visually remember everything. She works with Al Burns (Dylan Walsh) and other members of the Major Crimes team of the NYPD to track down the city’s most nefarious criminals. The rest of season four’s cast includes Alani Anthony, Kathy Najimy, and E.J. Bonilla.
The series began on CBS and was cancelled after one season but the network later reversed their decision. They renewed Unforgettable for a second season and later, for a third.
The network cancelled the show again in October 2014 but A&E revived the series five months later and ordered a fourth season of 13 episodes. They started airing in November and concluded in January, averaging a 0.12 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 740,000 viewers. Compared to season three’s ratings, these were down about 87%.
The ratings for Unforgettable were expected to be lower for its run on cable but it’s unlikely that A&E expected them to be that low. The cable channel ended up airing the final four episodes in one night, seemingly an attempt to just get rid of them.
Sony TV, which produces the series, isn’t expected to make any efforts to revive the series this time around. Cast contracts have reportedly already expired and some, Montgomery included, are considering new series pilots.
What do you think? Did you like the Unforgettable TV show? Did you watch on A&E? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fifth season?
Well, that’s just great. I know not all of Unforgettable’s problems were caused by A&E, but I do hold A&E fully responsible for this season’s poor promotion and thoughtless scheduling. Why did they take on the show if they didn’t care enough about it to ensure its success? Stacking episodes two at a time, airing them sporadically and out of order, then throwing the last four at us without notice clearly shows their lack of concern for both the show and the viewers. And thanks, BTW, for leaving us with that final scene before cancelling it. I have to agree… Read more »
Hated to see it end this way. I’ve really enjoyed watching all 4 seasons needs to have an ending if its gonna go away.
I love this show! Poppy is great! all the character are great! she is one bad ass cop
I love this show! Poppy is awesome, the show is great! why, why why???
What bleep. Nobody recognizes quality. A & E, the Republican Party equivalent of TV Channels.
Why am I not surprised? We were excited to have the series back on the air….got ourselves invested in the characters AGAIN…now, of course, it will be absolutely cancelled for good…make that ‘for bad’. Television decision makers are really causing this family to get fed up with the whole system. NetFlix and movies is our next move.
OK this is messed up then finish the series
A&E the killer of great shows. Longmire and now unforgettable.
I’ve always liked this show, all 3 times it’s aired. I love Poppy’s character & her lead, Dylan. It probably doesn’t fit with A&E demo, which is why they also dropped Longmire. I was almost willing to forgive them having picked up Unforgettable. Was REAL glad Netflix picked up Longmire. Looks like I get to avoid A&E again, no other good programming on. I’m sure they’ll find another stupid reality show to take its place.
Poppy Montgomery you were brilliant and so weren’t all of your cast. You should see if Netflix or another one of the streaming sites will pick you up for another season or two. Don’t give up . This show is great and I have watched every episode from the get go. I can’t believe that CBS AND A&E would waste your time if they couldn’t promote and stand behind you and your show from the get go. Please don’t let your show end this way.
Poppy Montgomery had an incredible run on Without a Trace which lasted seven seasons from 2002-09.
Thanks A&E for first of all not putting this show on a night that could have helped its viewership. Second of all thanks for not having the common courtesy of allowing the show to be wrapped up with no cliff hangers. You owe this shows fans at least a proper ending to the show. Let them comeback with a two hour movie to wrap it all up. CBS should also be ashamed of the way they treated this show. It’s numbers in the first season were between 9 and 10 million viewers a night when it first premiered, but for… Read more »
You have got to be kidding! Again? Really, give it a break. This show is so good and i was very happy that A & E put it back on. It was good to be watching it again and now you are going to drop it too. You have ended some good shows before but this time I’m not watching anything you put out there, Bates Motel included. Put it in different time slot different day first and see what happens but no you will put some garbage on instead. See ya!!!
