The case isn’t closed yet. This week, Investigation Discovery announced they are delaying production on the final episode of The Vanishing Women.
The series “documents an active investigation into the open cases of four deceased and two missing women from Chillicothe, Ohio.”
ID chief Henry Schleiff said they are waiting to film the final episode in order cover new developments in the cases:
As the leading authority in true crime programming, Investigation Discovery has the unique opportunity—and, indeed, even the responsibility—to use our platform for THE VANISHING WOMEN and elevate these cases to a national level. With new leads now coming forward and a criminal trial on the horizon, it is incumbent upon ID to cover these developments for our viewers, so we have decided to return in the fall with our finale to hopefully deliver closure to at least one of the victim’s families.”
A new episode of The Vanishing Women premieres on July 11th at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

REMAINING EPISODE DESCRIPTION
In the Shadows – premieres Monday, July 11 at 10/9c
The search for Shasta Himelrick comes to a devastating conclusion. When the newly pregnant 20-year-old’s body is found, friends and family cry foul play. But the coroner’s ruling tells a different story. Meanwhile 38-year-old Wanda Lemons is still missing. At first, a tip that she caught a ride to Texas gives law enforcement hope that she might be alive. But further investigation into her case soon makes investigators think otherwise. Now, nearly two years after the first woman disappeared, Chillicothe still seeks answers. Many hope those answers will come when Jason McCrary goes to trial for the murder of Timberly Claytor in July 2016.

What do you think? Have you seen The Vanishing Women? What do you think happen to these women?
I’m so anxious to find out who the killer is. Can’t wait until the 29
Anyone find out when or if a last show will air- end of summer or early fall 2016? Both seasons have been identified, via Internet searches by friends from work, none of us (ex-watchers from my company) have found an accurate date, ugh, the sad thing is we all agreed we had interest in the show, but lost steam with delay, and no info as to new case details or tips as initially but vaguely being reported???? Does anyone know of solid facts/breaks/tips out there that we all missed or that will be included in a future episode, or was… Read more »
I think with at least 2 of these women, their bodies were dumped after each overdosed in the presence by one of them, who may have been partying along with; not knowing or assuming there was one or more present. I would imagine that with the chances of overdosing, alone is as great as in a group, and thus, if in similar company, a typical response would be panic. Fear of the many consequences: law involvement, possible drug possession charges, negative reputation, criminal past, evading warrants, involvement with an investigation, to name only a few, are reasons or barriers for… Read more »
there were only 3 episodes that aired and i don’t see more on demand. It says above that the final episode airs July 10 but it didnt and its now july 30th and still no more episodes as of yet
I think it’s the drug dealer or a John that’s killing these women, they all have a history of heroin use and/or prostitution, and seem to be linked. Maybe they owe their dealer or the guy who is pimping them some money, and he gets them high on what they think is heroin and then kills them. The police should have sent trained and monitored decoys to find out what’s going on.. Did they ever say if the woman whom was pregnant in the river.. had water in her lungs, showing she was alive when she died, maybe she was… Read more »
I wonder if the women who disappeared could also be related to the Pike County, Ohio murders ? There seems to be an awful lot of violence in Southern Ohio, considering how “rural” it is.
No new leads, just integrating JM’s trial for Timberly who wasn’t missing, but killed and highlighted in the show, I believe. Although he’s not now and has never been named a person of interest (& will not stand trial for anything in connection with the missing woman) according to the lack of related info publicly, I’d assume dead ends led to the decision. I have read new leads were reported as well as including his trial details, but unfortunately, doesn’t look like any info to the missing woman is either available publicly, or doesn’t exist. Chances are us viewers will… Read more »
I was just trying to find out when the next episode is..something said there was a delay, but no mention as to when it might air??
It’s on the 29th
I have watched the series and the local police appear to have been completely inept at dealing with a serial killer or human trafficking ring. I respect the police, don’t get me wrong, but small towns like this seem like perfect targets for predators when the police are not equipped to deal with such extreme cases. They seem to have good hearts but I think they needed to bring in state and federal authorities much earlier on.
I watch so many of these type shows and all I have seen, is yes they all ran in the same circle of people. They all lived mostly in the evening time when most all of your predators are out scouting around. I think there may be 2 people doing this. The girls went missing to close together. I think they have not done any killing before, and may have the first girl taken. She may still be alive. I think they use her as bait for future girls. Thus explains the difference in how the girls have died. This… Read more »
Thank you for this project. I was dismayed by the lack of alarm from our local media and law enforcement. I hope your effort can bring an end to vulnerable women losing their lives.
