After a few years of rising numbers, last year, the Nielsen ratings for Hallmark Channel’s When Calls the Heart TV show settled in and ended up just a bit down. Still, the Canadian-American TV series has a fiercely devoted audience who keeps returning, so Hallmark has even developed an upcoming spin-off, When Calls Hope. Will the season six ratings be negatively impacted by the departure of Daniel Lissing? Will When Calls the Heart be cancelled or renewed for season seven? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
A western family drama, When Calls the Heart stars Erin Krakow, Lori Loughlin, Jack Wagner, Martin Cummins, Pascale Hutton, and Kavan Smith. Inspired by the Janette Oke novel, the Hallmark TV series centers on Elizabeth Thatcher (Krakow), a young teacher from a high society background. When she is assigned to teach in a coal country classroom, her life completely changes, particularly when she meets Royal North West Mounted Policie Constable Jack Thornton (Daniel Lissing). Season six kicks off with the recently widowed Elizabeth Thatcher Thornton anticipating the arrival of Jack’s posthumous baby.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: Although Hallmark Channel separates the When Calls the Heart holiday special from the regular season, the two-hour movie which premieres on Christmas Day 2018 has a season six production number, so we include the movie’s ratings as part of season six.
For comparisons: The fifth season of When Calls the Heart on Hallmark averaged a 0.26 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.325 million viewers.
What do you think? Do you like the When Calls the Heart TV series? Should it be cancelled or renewed for season seven on Hallmark Channel?
*3/18/19 update: The series has not been cancelled but, following Loughlin’s arrest, Hallmark pulled the remaining season six episodes. It seems that the intent is to rework the episodes (presumably to remove Loughlin) and air them at a later date. We’ll update you when we have a date.
*4/10/19 update: Season six of When Calls the Heart returns May 5, 2019.
*4/13/19 update: When Calls the Heart has been renewed for a seventh season by Hallmark.
Please renew
Yes!!!!!! Please renew!!
I love this show, surprised they got rid of Jack, all the characters are so enjoyable I look for to each episode. Please dont cancel.
Since season 6 has just started all I can say without Mountie Jack it’s going to be rough. We just need to wait and see.
I think they should have ended it when Jack was killed. The show has always been about Jack and Elizabeth. It’s so sad that Jack is missing out on his baby. I didnt start watching this show to fall in love with Jack and Elizabeth only to have jack killed.off . That’s not how the books go. They could have re-casted the role of Jack.
The show When Calls The Heart should definitely be renewed. It is one of the most wholesome shows on TV. Please do not cancel it.
I definitely think the show should be continued/renewed for season 7. Jack was not cut from the show. Daniel Lessing chose to leave on his own and did not want to renew his contract. This is a great show and I’m eager to see what happens with the other characters.
Hopefully, there will be a time lapse & Elizabeth’s son is 4 or 5 when the show starts in February. The writers could introduce a new character mid season & at first he is just a friend to Elizabeth, that grows into something more.
Definitely renew for season seven! It’s so nice to have a show that the whole family can watch together.
Love the series, hope it comes back wish it was a longer season.
Please please do not cancel the show hope to see Elizabeth fall in love again we love all the casts its beautiful done and produced down to earth
Please please do not cancel it we love it and hope Elisabeth husband returns or maybe see her in love again but please keep it going
Please RENEW!!!!
I absolutely love this show and absolutely want it to be renewed for season seven! The other characters are all fabulous! No, I do not like that Jack is gone, but the other characters can totally carry the show!
I love this series. I’m disappointed that they cut Jack out. But I’m looking forward to what’s to come. One of the best series and programs on TV. Love it.
I’m still unhappy with the direction made the last two seasons to minimize the storyline for Jack to promote other actors. I quit watching last season. This was a great show for generations to watch together. The charm of Oke’s books has been lost.
