What do you do if your reality show is running out of steam? You order a celebrity version, of course. It worked for Donald Trump’s Apprentice on NBC so why not Wife Swap?
ABC is reportedly ordering another season of its venerable Wife Swap series but this time with a celebrity twist. According to Deadline, the network wants six episodes of the reality series that would feature celebrities switching lifestyles. It’s not clear if there would be two celebrities involved or just one and a “regular” mom.
The network is keeping mum on who might participate but former Saturday Night Live castmember Victoria Jackson has hinted that she was approached.
Part of the primetime schedule since 2004, ABC’s Wife Swap is based on a British series by the same name. That one apparently did some celebrity episodes and they performed quite well overseas.
What do you think? Would a celebrity version interest you?
I’ll totally watch it! I love reality tv. It makes me feel so normal.
Nah.. I liked the old one just how it was! My family of seven loves the show! Please keep it on just the way It used to be!
Sorry, but don’t expect for this waste of space returning to the airwaves anytime soon. People like me exposed the truth enough to bring this show down for good.
Ken » it’s supposed to return mid season.
The spouse trading era is gone, long gone. Keep that garbage off my TV!
Never liked this scripted, edited, and terrible show as it was, please just stop broadcasting this show in any form.
Hell no!! Celebrities already have money and fame
let ordinary working class folks have something. Wife
Swap is one of my favorite shows because it features
real families. I will not be watching this junk!
no!!! there is to much stupid reality tv as it is.
This sounds like a sad attempt to bring in ratings in a cheap way. I’m not sure why ABC thinks we want to see D-List celebs switch lives, but CBS thinks it too because they’re doing that dumb “Same Name” show. ABC has a horrible head of programming though, so what were we to expect? Nothing but reality crap.
How loud and fast can I say NO!!!!!
Of course, we absolutely need another brilliant reality show to feed the insatiable appetites of the incredibly sad people that watch them.
aww, mike, I am a really happy person who just likes to indulge is reality TV. it’s fun watching other people, It makes you realize how good you have it. lighten up.
