Fans of FX’s low-rated You’re the Worst TV show have something to be happy about. The cable channel sitcom has been renewed for a second season of 13 episodes.
It will be moving to sister channel FXX for its sophomore run — a new cable channel where shows typically get low ratings.
A dark comedy, You’re the Worst takes a modern look at love and happiness — as told through the eyes of two people (Chris Geere and Aya Cash) who haven’t been very successful with either. Desmin Borges and Kether Donohue play their friends.
The TV series debuted in mid-July to a small audience of 765,000 viewers. The second episode dropped 20% and the third installment fell even lower. Viewership leveled off to about half a million.
Though the ratings weren’t impressive, You’re the Worst has some devout and vocal fans. That enthusiasm may have played a role in getting the show renewed.
Sister series Married has also been renewed but that show will stay on FX.
What do you think? Do you like the You’re the Worst sitcom? Are you glad that it’s been renewed or do you think it should have been cancelled instead?
I absolutely LOVE “You’re the Worst!” I am elated that the show has been renewed for a second season.
Love the show. Very dry dark comedy about relationships a perfect cocktail for a modern day series.
This show is hilarious! I love it! It’s so honest and raw! It’s such a different show and I love the characters. Thanks for renewing!!
I love it! If it were on HBO paired with Girls it would be a hit!
For me and my family this is must see TV (to coin an old phrase). This is one of the few shows that actively proselytize for. I have recommended it to more people than I can count. It is hands down one of the funniest shows ever.
Noooo! Not FXX!! It’s so much better than Married!! My wife and I love it!
I love it, I thought that the first episode was to raw for my taste, but I soon got over it and then couldn’t stop watching it. I think its really funny.
Don’t care about the channel change so long as it is coming back, would like more than 13 episodes…90 like the awful Anger Management would have been fantastic.
in response to Ronald, I like to say that I don’t believe the comedy is low brow at all. I believe that it is so in-depth that you really have to be on your toes to understand what they’re actually saying. I really like the show lot, and I’m glad that it got renewed. I hope that it moves up in the ratings, and audience.
I think that ardent fans of this show will appreciate it being renewed. Since I have both FX and FXX, should be able to see it here on Cox in Phoenix. I guess a lot of people would consider this show to be too low brow, but the type of comedy that they feature is genuinely funny. Lets hope that it’s sister show Married shows up on FXX too. Those seem to be the channels that people favor for this kind of show. It is probably more honest that most shows that feature unmarried characters. Probably most of us don’t… Read more »
Loved season 1 but no FXX. Going to miss it.
