TV show description:
This sci-fi police drama takes place 35 years into the future, in the year 2048. It’s a world in which police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids.
Detective John Kennex (Karl Urban) is a cop who’s survived one of the most catastrophic attacks ever made against the police department. He wakes up after a 17-month coma. He can’t remember much — except that his partner was killed. He’s lost one of his legs and is now outfitted with a highly sophisticated synthetic appendage. He suffers from depression, mental atrophy, trauma-onset OCD, PTSD and the “psychological rejection of his synthetic body part.”
John returns to work at the encouragement of his longtime ally, Captain Sandra Maldonado (Lili Taylor). Every cop must now be paired with a robot and, despite his passionate aversion to androids, John is no exception.
He’s partnered with a battle-ready MX-43 model. He abruptly terminates this pairing after the robot discovers incriminating information about him. As a result, technician Rudy Lom (Mackenzie Crook) introduces John to Dorian (Michael Ealy), a discontinued android with unexpected emotional responses.
Although these responses were deemed flaws, it’s these “flaws” that John relates to Dorian most — John is part-machine and Dorian is part-human. John and Dorian’s understanding of each other not only complements them, it connects them.
As he adjusts to working with his new partner, John also must learn to get along with his new colleagues, like the sharp and insightful human intelligence analyst Detective Valerie Stahl (Minka Kelly) and Detective Richard Paul (Michael Irby), a distrustful man who doesn’t welcome John back with open arms.
Episode #13 – Straw Man
Kennex and Dorian revisit the past when a string of murders are similar to those committed by a serial killer who was put in jail by Kennex’s father. Dorian gets his first performance review after being reactivated.
First aired: March 3, 2014.
What do you think? Do you like the Almost Human TV series? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for another season?
Absolutely love the show. We are not into reality shows and all the garbage that is out there. This show is different, the characters are fun and interesting. Karl & Minka are adorable… hoping to see something develop there. Please give this series a chance. It is much needed with all the crap out there on tv.
Almost Human is a GREAT show. I’m so tired of a good series coming out and not being given a chance. After one season, Maybe two, they’re gone. Hate all these cheap, degrading, reality shows that show just how far down the tubes people have gone. But, have a GREAT show and you just toss it.
I really like the show, hope it continues
Since the same creators of “Fringe” produce this show, they should start throwing in more bizarre episodes (like Finge) to keep interesting. I enjoy the show and would hate to see to see it go so quickly. Another added benefit: Karl Urban!
Love the show and love Karl Urban, Michael Ealy is great for Karl to play off. Enjoy the show and the characters..keep it coming!!!!
This is the ONLY new series I watch. The show hooked me right away and I eagerly anticipate each episode. The characters are fantastic. I agree with all of the others that say we need an intelligent, thought-provoking, and entertaining show as an alternative to all of the silly ‘reality’ shows. Please renew this show! Give it a chance to be great!!
I actually really like this show, every week I get more and more involved, please don’t cancel it.
My husband and I really like Almost Human. Please renew it.
I think this series has real potential if they will just let the genie out of the box and stop with the subplots. This could be just as good as Commander Data gradually becoming more human as the show went on. Turn off the “rule the world” sub-plots and get them on good police cases where their unique pairing can really work.
My husband and I have really been enjoying Almost Human. The stories are good, and the acting has been great. The special effects are terrific. Please renew this show.
If theycacel this show ill never watch a sci fi show on Fox ever.
I LOVE this show. Please do not cancel it, it’s too much fun. I know lots of other people love it too.
Excellent show. Really hope it goes on for a while, great to watch.
Love the show. It has so much potential, especially since they haven’t even gotten to explaining about the wall yet. The rest of the city hasn’t been explored either. Rudy, Paul, and others have lots of store lines to be developed surely.
I LOVE THIS SHOW. This is the only television show watched by our whole family. As the show evolves, Dorian and John-a mismatched couple-have a wonderful chemistry. They are smart, funny and HUMAN. Also, a great cast that should evolve with time. The show has sooo much potential. Fox please do yourselves-and us a favor. GIVE THE SHOW A CHANCE.
