Though Bones is having its worst ratings run since season three (when it was airing on Friday nights), FOX is sticking with the crime drama. The network has renewed Bones for a ninth season. It’s unclear how many episodes are being ordered.
Here’s the press release from the network:
HOT FROM FOX…
FOX DIGS UP NEW SEASON OF “BONES”
FOX has renewed the hit series BONES for its upcoming ninth season, it was announced today by Kevin Reilly, Chairman of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company.
“After more than 150 episodes, BONES continues to be one of television’s most dynamic and consistent dramas,” said Reilly. “We at FOX, along with millions of zealous fans, look forward to seeing where the incredible creative team takes the series next season.”
BONES returns with all-new episodes, beginning with a special two-hour Winter Premiere Monday, Jan. 14 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. In the episode, “The Diamond in the Rough/The Archeologist in the Cocoon,” the Jeffersonian team investigates the death of a professional ballroom dancer who was murdered three days before her audition on a popular dancing competition show. In order to solve the case, Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) go undercover as dance competitors to see if they can find potential suspects. Then, the team investigates the murder of a well-known archeologist with a questionable reputation, who came upon a career-defining discovery right before his death.
BONES is a darkly amusing procedural centered on a highly skilled forensic anthropologist and an FBI agent. These unlikely partners take on homicide cases involving human remains that most forensic specialists can’t handle. The series stars Emily Deschanel, David Boreanaz, TJ Thyne, Michaela Conlin, Tamara Taylor and John Francis Daley.
BONES is from Far Field Productions and Josephson Entertainment in association with 20th Century Fox Television. The series was created by Hart Hanson. Hanson, Stephen Nathan, Ian Toynton, Barry Josephson and Jonathan Collier are executive producers.

What do you think? Are you glad to hear that Bones has been renewed? Were you concerned that it wouldn’t be?
Bones is a ever evolving show and with so many episodes I find the the reruns even entertaining. The romantic plots between characters keep it ever interesting. It’s the only show I watch daily, it would be a shame to loose it!
I love the Bones show. I tape all of them and watch them over and over. My lunch routine is set down with food and turn on Bones. Thanks for renewing it for another season. I like it now that Bones and Booth are married. Like it when they inter act with their kids.
still watch it
The best show, ever, to come from the USA. Long may it continue.
Thanks

Our whole household loves “Bones”. I love this side of the crime solving of the show along how Dr Brennin is evolving as a person in her work place and non professionally and with the occassional twists and turns among the employees of the smithsonian institute. We love this show. I hope that it continues. I find ratings odd. With Cable TV today, there are so many shows that it is sometimes hard to maintain. With all the people in the US( unknown about other international viewers) and there are so many channels on Cable these days, that I would… Read more »
I love the show and have been a huge fan since the beginning>>I will continue to watch as i love all of the characters, but since the sexual tension between booth and bones is gone, the show has lost something.
I enjoy the episodes that maintain a high level of scientific investigation. The insipid undercover or supernatural ‘woo’ episodes? Not so much. I fear a potential dumbing-down of the show. If the writers are having difficulty writing the science portions, they should reach out to the scientific community. Most would be eager to assist. If Big Bang can do it, so can Bones.
Have stopped watching it since it airs at 7 pm in the Midwest. Too early! Still enjoy the episodes when I catch them in reruns.
I love Bones. Unfortunately here in the UK series 8 only starts showing tonight. So glad it’s been renewed for a ninth series.
Kudos for mentioning the so-so ratings.
Bones only looks “dynamic” in comparison to the ratings dead zone that most of FOX’ schedule has become.
Then again, not canceling shows way past their freshness date (like House) or that never were fresh at all (Fringe) is one of the main reasons FOX can’t find a new hit to save its life.
IT one of the best tv show on tv just love it ok buhba1956
