This was a positive start for the new series, particularly in viewership, but the demo could have been stronger — especially considering the fairly lackluster competition (Scandal on ABC and Rock Center with Brian Williams on NBC).
Compared to the season premiere of The Mentalist a year ago, CBS was up by 10% in the demo (vs a 2.8 rating) and down by 1% in viewers (vs 13.56 million).
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Elementary TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or be renewed for a second season?

Best TV fare I’ve seen in a very long time. Crazy not to continue. Lot more potential from a strong cast and excellent writing. The game’s afoot!
This is one of those new shows that the critics put down as a loser show and surely to be cancelled. I started not to watch it because of that, but I liked Lucy Liu, so I watched. I really like this show and am glad I took a chance on it.
It makes me wonder how many new shows fail because critics say it is awful and people don’t watch because of those reviews. If most critics are saying a new show will not make it, I don’t watch because I don’t want to get “involved” with a show to have it cancelled.
love love love the series wished they would move it to 9pm
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not let this show be cancelled!!!! Love it!!!! True the Promo was lack luster!!!! CBS’s fault!!! I went in thinking I wasn’t going to like it!!! Fell in love the very first episode!!!!!!!
Love this show……
I love it. Smart dialogue, intriguing and sophisticated. Fun to watch.
I rarely like shows this. This idea been done to death. But the chemistry and dry humor makes this one of the best shows on TV today.
Great show
I love this show. I was expecting it to be pretty bad, instead it’s really good. I would be terribly disappointed if it weren’t renewed for at least another season.
I really hope nobody makes the mistake of cancelling this show. I hadn’t heard of it until just recently and didn’t get around to watching an episode for about 2 months after I had been told about Elementary, but only because I had been dissapointed by so many different series (in recent years), that I did not believe I would like it even if I did give it a chance. After watching the first episode, I completely fell in love with the show and watched every episode (only 10 episodes were available at the time) in one night. In one sitting! I’ve only ever done that with one other show in the past, called Kitchen Confidential (2005), which had a very short run and was cancelled after only one season. I was devastated, and hope that this will not happen be the case with Elementary. It is a great series, with great writing, pacing, and acting all around. Every episode is a great mystery, and the character created by Sherlock Holmes for this series is very much enjoyable. Definitely will be on my long-term watch list. If it is not cancelled, of course.
One of the best new shows in awhile. I’d hate to see it cancelled because I looked forward to this show every week. I love it. It started out slow but got better each week. It shouldn’t be shown opposite Vampire Diaries because it has been on a long time and has a faithful viewing audience who don’t get a chance to see Elementary unless it shows reruns during off season. That is why so many of my other favorite shows were cancelled before they got a chance. I don’t know why they always put the new shows up against such odds. It isn’t fair to the actors or the fans. I hope it doesn’t get cancelled for years. It could be as popular as House was if given the chance.
Should have been cancelled in first 15 minutes of first show. Miller is much better actor than they are allowing him to be and Lu is NOT watson.
Can’t believe CBS will cancel it since it’s their most successful new series, and they have a number of other shows doing poorly in the ratings.
Extremely well written and acted show. Just love it. But, that probably means its too intelligent for the average viewer and therefore will be cancelled by CBS before it finds a larger audience. Probably should have been on HBO, Showtime or PBS and it would have been around for a very long time.
Love this show, has become one of my favorites. Great chemistry between Sherlock and Watson.
