Lipstick Jungle: NBC ”Cancels” Brooke Shields TV Show, No Season Three

Lipstick JungleThe peacock network has gotten tired of picking up the tab for “three of New York’s most powerful women.” They’re not ordering more episodes of the Lipstick Jungle TV show after two seasons and 20 episodes.

Lipstick Jungle is based on the best-selling book by Sex and the City’s Candace Bushnell and follows the lives of three high-powered friends; former studio president Wendy Healy (Brooke Shields), magazine editor Nico Reilly (Kim Raver), and fashion designer Victory Fords (Lindsay Price). Others castmembers include performers like Paul Blackthorne, Andrew McCarthy, Robert Buckley, Sarah Hyland, David Norona, Dylan Clark Marshall, Seth Kirschner, Matt Lauria, David Alan Basche, and Marcia DeBonis.

The series debuted as a midseason replacement series on February 7, 2008. Despite being part of NBC’s Thursday night line-up, Jungle only attracted 7.54 million viewers and a 2.9/8 rating/share of the 18-49 demographic. The rest of the season averaged fewer than six million viewers each week.

Because of the writers strike, only seven episodes were produced. Ratings-challenged NBC decided to take a chance and renewed the show for a second year of 13 episodes, hoping that the numbers would improve.

Should Lipstick Jungle be given another chance?

When Jungle returned for its second season, the ratings were even lower than they were in season one. On Wednesday nights, the show averaged a paltry five million viewers and a 2/5 rating/share. After five weeks, NBC essentially gave up on the series and moved it to Friday nights at 10pm. Much of the Jungle audience didn’t follow and those two episodes have averaged just 3.26 million.

To no surprise, NBC has pulled the plug on the show’s future. The series’ writers actually cleaned out their offices last week. On the positive side, all 13 episodes of this season are being completed and will continue to be shown on Friday nights for the immediate future. Seven have aired, leaving six episodes to go. Because production is so close to wrapping, it’s unlikely that the final episode will conclude the series’ storylines. It’s even more unlikely that NBC would order a third season.

It’s expected that Friday Night Lights will take Jungle’s place in January. Stay tuned! TV Series Finale home page

I think lipstick jungle is the best show, I’ve been waiting for season 3! Needless to say how disappointed I am that the network has pulled the plug. I wasnt able to watch the episodes on TV because of work but i got on-line all the time to watch every episode, it gave me something to look forward to, it gave me hope that friends really can be that close. I know it’s only TV but nobody could of played them parts better than them women, thats a fact. I wish the network would please give the show another run, please?

I really like this show. I hope there’s a third season next year. After sex and the city, Lipstick jungle is the best show for a quite a while. So I just hope that the producer can really see the market, at least in China. We love this show. The female white collar workers and the college students.

I don’t know what to say! why NBC?! why?! People around the world in millions are whatching please give us Lipstick jungle back!

I think it needs another go or even two, LJ didn’t get a fair chance you launched it to close to that Sex and the city was done and to close to the movie. Sex and the city was a great show and the movie too. You needed to let people “get over” those first. But done is done!

Now don’t blow off an other great show that can become even greater then Sex in the city if given a chanse. Why not find out what’s missing (if any) add that and bring on a season 3 and 4 and you will see that LJ will go right into peoples hearts!

Please NBC! Please, we Swedes are ruting for you and LJ!

i have to agree. this was one of my favorite shows. I am not a soap opera, another reality
show loving typ. It questions my inteligence, but i loved this show and kept checking in
because we where told maybe, jut maybe they will go on. But nope, sadly not.
I am so beyond tired of all these reality shows about who does who when where and why and oh all this…blah. It was nice to see 3 successful women. Perfect actresses for each role…oh let me stop whining. I am so fed up with the decissions to cut good shows for the sake of brainless airtime that i have canceled my cable provider. Now i realy just pay for what i chose to watch. A video of my choice ;) gives me more time with the family too. Who would’ve thought. Good luck to my three ladies! Y’all did an awsome job! But who am I, just a little viewer that misses you all on the screen!
