It was a very disappointing debut for this high-profile legal drama. In addition to the weak cumulative ratings, the early numbers indicated that many viewers tuned out as the two hour premiere progressed. Fewer people are expected to watch the next episode and The Firm already can’t afford to lose any viewers.

Compared to The Cape’s premiere one year earlier, the peacock network is down by 46% in the demo and 25% in total viewers. The Cape fell to a low 1.2 in the demo before being cancelled by NBC.

Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.

What do you think? Do you like The Firm TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?

NBC must be run by idiots, no wonder it’s last. They have two really good shows this year, The Firm and Prime Suspect and they premiere them on the stupidest nights and then take them off for awhile and put them back on another night. The Firm is so good, not your typical legal show and yes it does require a certain intelligence, it makes you think perish the thought. It’s not one of the mindless reality shows that I HATE!!!! I have tried several new shows on NBC for the past 5 years I think and ALL have been canceled. This is it. I’ll stick with cable. Most of my favorite shows are on cable; AMC, USA, HBO, SHO and none have been canceled. I do watch 4 on CBS. Why can CBS keep intelligent programming but NBC cannot? Maybe they don’t have idiots in charge of programming. It’s a good thing they have all of those successful cable networks to keep them afloat.

It’s a good show, but the two plots are too disjointed. If they were more integrated I think they’d have a huge winner because the storylines and acting is good. As is, it’s hard to follow.

I cannot believe that they replaced “Prime Suspect,” which was a great show, with this turkey. I gave “the Firm” a chance, made it through two epidsodes, and then crossed it off my list for future viewings. Boring.

Love the show and look forward to watching it each week. One of the best shows going on now. Very disappointed this Thursday to find it was not on. It has a little of everything: intrigue, love, humor, some action, and well acted.
