The new ABC series called the forgotten has received a bit of good news. The network has decided to order five more installments. Does this mean that it won’t be cancelled?
Starring Christian Slater, the forgotten follows a group of civilians who work together to find missing persons once the police have reached a dead end. Aside from Slater, the series features the talents of Michelle Borth, Heather Stephens, Bob Stephenson, Rochelle Aytes, Anthony Carrigan, Judith Hoag, and Lily Rains.
Debuting on September 22nd, the forgotten got off to a slow start with just a 2.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 9.54 million total viewers. It lost a large percentage of the Dancing with the Stars lead-in audience and 12% of viewers tuned in before the hour was done.
The following week, viewership dropped to a 2.0 in the demo and 7.72 million. While overall viewership fluctuated in later weeks, the demo numbers stayed at the same disappointing level.
In a somewhat surprising move, ABC has decided to order five additional installments. Of the news, co-executive producer KristieAnne Reedd tweeted, “Very excited about the additional order of episodes for the forgotten.”
While this may seem like the network has faith in the series, it’s more likely an indication of other scheduling challenges caused by things like the cancellation of Eastwick.
Unless the forgotten’s ratings turn around, it’s difficult to imagine that ABC will order any more or invest in a second season.
What do you think? Can the forgotten be saved or is it living on borrowed time?

Love the show. I hope it stays. It’s the only decent show on Tuesday nights.
PLEASE, PLEASE. PLEASE DON’T CANCEL “THE FORGOTTEN” IT IS SUCH A HOPEFUL PROGRAM COMPARED TO ALL THE CRAP ON TV!!!!! I LOVE AND LOOK FORWARD TO IT!
I feel that this show’s premise is heartfelt, original for a show, and can help families trying to find their loved ones, is a show that should be on the air. People who only care about the entertainment value, i.e. “reality shows” that are mindless, and those people who have selfish thoughts should only care about those shows. Please start bringing and keeping better shows like THE FORGOTTEN on the air for those people that really care about people who have real lives with real problems, not stupid and staged crap.
I love The Forgotten!! It is a wonderful program and very entertaining!!! I hope the show is not cancelled!!!!!
I absolutely LOVE The Forgotten. As far as I’m concerned, it’s one of the best new shows on televsion. Give it a chance, maybe change its time slot, I know more people will watch it, I would really hate to see a good show go down the drain. I’m so fed up with reality shows I could scream, I HATE THEM!!!!
keep it going
please keep the show going, it is very good and has heart.
PLEASE bring it back. I loved the show last night. I can see a new renewal of their efforts knowing his daughter was found. It shows a never give up additude we all need in this time of so many losses. PLEASE PLEASE dont let it go.
‘The Forgotten’ is one of the few intelligent shows on tv worth watching…..so no doubt it will be cancelled for another ridiculous reality show. Just like “Life’ a year ago, and Christian Slater’s last tv outing, this show has been on, then off again. Let’s hope ABC breathes new life into this show and re-news it for next season.
Please don’t cancel “The Forgotten”. It is one of Jerry Bruckheimer’s best accomplishments. It’s intelligent and thought provoking, unlike some of these STUPID reality shows. I truly hope ABC can see what a GEM they have with “The Forgotten”.
The Forgotten is a very wellwritten, interesting drama that deserves a second chance. I think it could use another time slot. I oftern go back and forth between watching it and The Good Wife.
love this so much! hope abc keeps it around!
Please keep this show on the air!! its the only thing i can look forward too watching on Tuesday!
I can`t wait for the Forgotten to come on each week, it would stink if they cancel another good series because of a few less viewers. They just have to give it a chance, people will catch on as fot the ones that already have gives us a break. We already have to few good shows to choose from and this is one of the best acted and written series I have seen in a long time.
EVERY TIME A QUALITY SHOW COMES ON (LIKE NBC’S “LIFE” OR CBS’ “THE UNIT), THEY PULL THE PLUG. HERE IS A SHOW WHERE YOU KINDA GET A POSITVE VIBE OF PEOPLE DOING GOOD AND NOBODY CATCHES ON TO IT. REALLY SAD IF THE PULL THE PLUG. I CAN COUNT ON LESS THAN HALF A HAND THE SHOWS I’VE LIKED ON THAT CHANNEL (FOFGOTTEN & WOMEN’S MURDER CLUB).
