Compared to season four’s debut a year earlier, the network was down by 29% in the demo and down by 28% in total viewership. Still, the season five premiere was strong enough for Wipeout to rank as the third-highest rated non-scripted show of ABC’s season, outperformed by the fall’s Dancing with the Stars performance and results shows.
Reference point: The 2010-11 season averaged a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.79 million viewers.
