This evening marks the last episode of A Gifted Man of the season. Will the TV show be back for a second season or will it be cancelled by CBS?
A Gifted Man follows the life of Michael Holt (Patrick Wilson), a talented but selfish surgeon who begins to change his point of view after being visited by the spirit of his deceased ex-wife. The cast also includes Jennifer Ehle, Margo Martindale, Liam Aiken, Julie Benz, Pablo Schreiber, Rachelle Lefevre, Afton Williamson, Eriq La Salle, and Mike Doyle.
The show premiered in September to a disappointing 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.45 million total viewers. Week two saw Gifted Man drop to a 1.2 in the demo and 8.18 million. The numbers stayed at those levels for several weeks but then perked up to a 1.3 in the demo. Rather than give the series a full season order, CBS added just three installments.

Last month, CBS moved the show to 9pm. The time change seemed to help the first week but last Friday’s installment dropped back to the usual 1.3 demo rating. Undercover Boss, which took over the 8pm timeslot, has been doing significantly better than the drama.
The season to date has a 1.3 demo average with 8.50 million total viewers. It’s CBS’ weakest drama in both the demographic and total viewers, even when you adjust for the Friday night timeslot. To put things in perspective, Medium was cancelled with a 1.4 demo average.
If A Gifted Man was on NBC, the network would no doubt be considering a renewal. That’s not the case of course. CBS has the largest number of successful shows and, for whatever reason, A Gifted Man just didn’t find a big enough audience. It’s sure to be cancelled sometime between now and May.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see A Gifted Man leave the schedule? Why do you think it didn’t catch on with a bigger audience?

Oh please tell me it’s not being cancelled. I love this show. He IS a gifted man. Love to watch him…
If CBS cancels it I sure hope NBC picks it up. It is a great show. We look forward to it every week!
Please don’t take away such a great show which has helped so many people feel better about their lives and look for good. Like all good shows you are going to take them away. I just don’t understand….please don’t cancel “A Gifted Man”. Thanks
Please do not cancel a gifted man it was one of the few programs left on
television that a senior can watch, there are some of us who aren’t into reality
television.
why do you put such great shows on Friday night and then cancel them? try them on a different night and I am sure they will be hard to beat
OH PLEASE…don’t cancel A Gifted Man…! Its a great adult show that is not offensive, not too graphic, not too violent and doesn’t dumb us down. I so look forward to it every week I’m tired of news magazine programs and reality TV. Reality TV is VERY old and not at all entertaining. Please keep this show. Along with Criminal Minds and the CSI series A Gifted Man is one of the BEST CBS has to offer. And I love Margo Martindale!
It will be a shame if this is cancelled. It offers many unique features not available in most shows today. My family watch it every time it is on, and we are all very dissapointed to hear that it might be terminated.
Great show watched every eposide. Please return the show….like Laura I agree maybe reruns for more exposure. After all it was on Friday nights alot of folks are out and about maybe try a new night or new time…..
NO NO NO NO Please do not cancel this show!!!!!! Finally there is a decent show to watch !! We look forward to it every week. We are not all young people who like blood and guts !!! Let us have a few good story lines and not vampires !!!! Please
I looked forward to this show. Esp enjoyed the tension between the male lead and the female Dr. at the clinic. Plz do not cancel.
Best show on T.V it made me look forward to staying home on Friday night. Please Please Please don’t cancel this show. It just needs more exposure perhaps repeats through out the week as a fill in so more people can get access to it.
Please do not cancel this show, we have finally found something worth watching that make some sense!!!
I enjoyed the show I watched every week if I was going to be gone I made sure to record it so I can see it later. I hope they reconsider to keep it.
Please save this show! Maybe Lifetime could pick it up? I think the “ghost” aspect is perhaps too hokey for some people. But if Anna disappeared after her heart died, that would take care of that and she served her purpose by making him less self-centered.
I want to see him get together with the gorgeous doctor!
I loved the show too, gave me something to look forward to watching on Friday. I think they could have done a bit more with the Anna character, but still, I don’t want to see it cancelled.
