This evening marks the last episode of A Gifted Man of the season. Will the TV show be back for a second season or will it be cancelled by CBS?
A Gifted Man follows the life of Michael Holt (Patrick Wilson), a talented but selfish surgeon who begins to change his point of view after being visited by the spirit of his deceased ex-wife. The cast also includes Jennifer Ehle, Margo Martindale, Liam Aiken, Julie Benz, Pablo Schreiber, Rachelle Lefevre, Afton Williamson, Eriq La Salle, and Mike Doyle.
The show premiered in September to a disappointing 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.45 million total viewers. Week two saw Gifted Man drop to a 1.2 in the demo and 8.18 million. The numbers stayed at those levels for several weeks but then perked up to a 1.3 in the demo. Rather than give the series a full season order, CBS added just three installments.

Last month, CBS moved the show to 9pm. The time change seemed to help the first week but last Friday’s installment dropped back to the usual 1.3 demo rating. Undercover Boss, which took over the 8pm timeslot, has been doing significantly better than the drama.
The season to date has a 1.3 demo average with 8.50 million total viewers. It’s CBS’ weakest drama in both the demographic and total viewers, even when you adjust for the Friday night timeslot. To put things in perspective, Medium was cancelled with a 1.4 demo average.
If A Gifted Man was on NBC, the network would no doubt be considering a renewal. That’s not the case of course. CBS has the largest number of successful shows and, for whatever reason, A Gifted Man just didn’t find a big enough audience. It’s sure to be cancelled sometime between now and May.

I am brokenhearted:( I wait all week for this show. I can’t believe more people don’t enjoy it. I love the characters and the stories. It is just a shame!!!!
Its an excellent series that inspired myself and husband. Its about a doctor that works in a low-income clinic takingcare of patients that don’t have insurance. The staff in Santiago Clinic are great and in the main hosptial with his patient’s that have insurance are excellent also especially his right hand nurse and receiptionist. We look forward to the series because Michael Holt to me, plays the role of a excellent Doctor but also a jerk sometimes. His wife she also inspire me being a ghost but always there for Michael. I hope the series comes back.

I love this show! This is one of my favorites and I look forward to watching it every Friday night. My daughter also enjoys watching it. It’s a great family show. I’m so sick of all the reality shows. Please do not cancel this wonderful show!!

Like the show very much. It is refreshing to find a series in which one can respect and admire the main characters. Too much of our “TV” shows are junk, with less than admirable characters, who exhibit less than admirable qualities. Yes, there are some quirky personalities in the cast of characters but the two main physicians seem to struggle with life’s problems while managing to truly put others first. And the cast of supporting characters are well drawn and uplifting. Please give this show an opportunity to touch lives in a positive fashion. You will be glad you did.… Read more »

One of my favorite shows, it started slowly but became progressively more interesting and at the end of the season it left me eagerly awaiting for a new season. Blue bloods and person of interest are my other favorite shows. Disappointed to hear that CBS wants to cancel the show.

if not have her as Anna, why not a twin sister then she could be a living person
they kept bringing more people into the show that seemed to take story away from what began as Michael learning from Anna…look at how he changed his shallow ways after Anna came back to him
I really enjoy A Gifted Man and would like to see it renewed. In this world of “reality TV” there is very little to watch and enjoy.
If it were to continue maybe the story line should change so that his dead wife is no longer part of the script and he become involved with someone else. Perhaps some people could not get into the story, thinking that seeing and speaking to his dead wife is hard to relate to unless you have lost someone very dear to you.
I’m just sick they are canceling a good show!! Every time I find a show that has good morals, clean, they take it!!! TV doesn’t need to be about number of viewers but giving those who don’t like reality, gay, premarital sex, etc a healthy choice!!
This is one of my favorite shows this season. It breaks my heart that silly shows like 2 broke girls gets renewed while this show may be cancelled. Whose TV habits are being monitored to determine ratings anyway? People addicted to vacuous programming? Every intelligent show that isn’t tied it to horrific crimes seems to fail.

I am also sick of reality tv. This is a wonderful show. If they would just give it a good night and leave it in one time slot and do a little advertising for it, the share would increase. It’s one of the few decent shows on television anymore. I now watch very little tv because I just don’t have the stomach for it. Most of the shows are lousy.
