This evening marks the last episode of A Gifted Man of the season. Will the TV show be back for a second season or will it be cancelled by CBS?
A Gifted Man follows the life of Michael Holt (Patrick Wilson), a talented but selfish surgeon who begins to change his point of view after being visited by the spirit of his deceased ex-wife. The cast also includes Jennifer Ehle, Margo Martindale, Liam Aiken, Julie Benz, Pablo Schreiber, Rachelle Lefevre, Afton Williamson, Eriq La Salle, and Mike Doyle.
The show premiered in September to a disappointing 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.45 million total viewers. Week two saw Gifted Man drop to a 1.2 in the demo and 8.18 million. The numbers stayed at those levels for several weeks but then perked up to a 1.3 in the demo. Rather than give the series a full season order, CBS added just three installments.

Last month, CBS moved the show to 9pm. The time change seemed to help the first week but last Friday’s installment dropped back to the usual 1.3 demo rating. Undercover Boss, which took over the 8pm timeslot, has been doing significantly better than the drama.
The season to date has a 1.3 demo average with 8.50 million total viewers. It’s CBS’ weakest drama in both the demographic and total viewers, even when you adjust for the Friday night timeslot. To put things in perspective, Medium was cancelled with a 1.4 demo average.
If A Gifted Man was on NBC, the network would no doubt be considering a renewal. That’s not the case of course. CBS has the largest number of successful shows and, for whatever reason, A Gifted Man just didn’t find a big enough audience. It’s sure to be cancelled sometime between now and May.

“A Gifted Man” is one of the very best television shows I’ve ever seen. My husband, children, and I absolutely love the show, and we have enjoyed watching it every Friday evening. It is so sad that many very poor shows survive and a show of this high quality for family entertainment faces the chopping block. It’s a sad reflection of our society. We will deeply miss this show. I’m very disappointed in A Gifted Man possibly (or probably) being cancelled. I have co-workers that also are disappointed, as we frequently talk about this show, as in “did you see that episode Friday night?” There are plenty of new/documentary shows (20/20, Dateline, etc.), plenty of reality shows, sit-coms, and frequent sports coverage, but why cancel out one of the few shows like this? There are a lot of us that miss Medium and Ghost Whisperer, and similar shows!
My friends and I all love this show. Will be very disappointed if it does not return.

They should keep gifted man on tv! CBS may have a lot of great shows but this show was fantastic! Take one of their other shows off the programming schedule! Give your heads a shake!
I am just sick that this show is/may be canceled! For once, I found a show that I really like. It always had such wonderful stories. I can’t tell you how long it is has been seen I have seen a series that good. Please bring this back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have enjoyed watching the show, it is well and smartly written. They don’t “over use” the ghost part either. Before I know it, the hour is up and I’m still craving more, more, more. I wish they would continue one more season. Even got my husband into it and he is enjoying it as well.

My wife and I have enjoyed a gifted man although we didn’t see the first couple of episodes when we did start watching regularly we are very impressed with the story line, we have always been attracted to stories of ghosts, who can tell me for sure that there are no such thing as ghosts?
