This evening marks the last episode of A Gifted Man of the season. Will the TV show be back for a second season or will it be cancelled by CBS?
A Gifted Man follows the life of Michael Holt (Patrick Wilson), a talented but selfish surgeon who begins to change his point of view after being visited by the spirit of his deceased ex-wife. The cast also includes Jennifer Ehle, Margo Martindale, Liam Aiken, Julie Benz, Pablo Schreiber, Rachelle Lefevre, Afton Williamson, Eriq La Salle, and Mike Doyle.
The show premiered in September to a disappointing 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 9.45 million total viewers. Week two saw Gifted Man drop to a 1.2 in the demo and 8.18 million. The numbers stayed at those levels for several weeks but then perked up to a 1.3 in the demo. Rather than give the series a full season order, CBS added just three installments.

Last month, CBS moved the show to 9pm. The time change seemed to help the first week but last Friday’s installment dropped back to the usual 1.3 demo rating. Undercover Boss, which took over the 8pm timeslot, has been doing significantly better than the drama.
The season to date has a 1.3 demo average with 8.50 million total viewers. It’s CBS’ weakest drama in both the demographic and total viewers, even when you adjust for the Friday night timeslot. To put things in perspective, Medium was cancelled with a 1.4 demo average.
If A Gifted Man was on NBC, the network would no doubt be considering a renewal. That’s not the case of course. CBS has the largest number of successful shows and, for whatever reason, A Gifted Man just didn’t find a big enough audience. It’s sure to be cancelled sometime between now and May.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see A Gifted Man leave the schedule? Why do you think it didn’t catch on with a bigger audience?

I think the show was a really good drama and I miss it in the Friday 8pm slot. Everyone I talk to has the same thoughts as I do. If it is cancelled, I will really miss it. Finally a show with hardly any violence dealing with every day life, and it gets sacked off the air. Too bad.
This is a wonderful series. I just don’t think you let enough of the target demographic know about it. I’ve told everyone I know about it and they have started watching it. Give it a little longer to get the word out. It ‘s one of the few really good ones that’s a police-based genre.
let keep the gifted man on the air good show we neveer missed a show keep it on the network give it a chance for people to view it
I love A Gifted Man…. Please, Please, Please DO NOT CANCELL!!!
I think IF the ratings were down it’s because the network didn’t advertise enough. I just happen to come across it.
You really need to rethink cancelling….

It was good but that kind of show needs time to attract an every week audience.
PLEASE do not cancel a gifted man. What a medical drama with Neuro as the core, and the clinic, it is just awesome on so many levels including the relatioships!! LOVE IT LOVE IT please do not cancel.
With all of the stupid reality shows on the air, why would you want to cancel A Gifted Man?
STUPID MOVE!
Why would you cancel A Gifted Man its a great show. Put it back in the 8pm time slot followed by Undercover Boss. If you are going to cancel something cancel How I Met Your Mother it just dumb.
Love this show! Please don’t cancel!
PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL A GIFTED MAN GIVE IT AT LEAST ANOTHER YEAR AND I THINK IT WILL PICK UP. MY HUSBAND AND I NEVER MISS IT.
I loved A Gifted man. It was my favorite show. I am sorry if it is going to be cancelled
Love this show!!! Patrick Wilson and the blond doctor are amazing!!! Very dissappointing –
I’m sad to hear that the numbers were so low for “A Gifted Man” because my husband and I really enjoyed the show. I hope CBS will give it another shot!
Seriously, why would you cancel such a good show?
My friend (who doesn’t do computers) and I LOVE “A Gifted Man”. We watch it and then talk about it by phone. It sure is entertaining! Please don’t cancel it!
